On the kitchen angle - one word: Nakiri.

EDIT: I'll leave the details to the experience and creativity within the team. The best paintings start as blank canvases.

4" satin GW blade with Active Duty Grips, no choil and a nuclear meltdown treatment. Thickness .14-.19 should be fine.

Whatever comes out I am sure it will be great. Can't wait.

Infi with similar look and handle to FBMLE but blade length reduced to 9 inches, handle to remain 6 inches, double cut/satin BUT with high sabre grind to convex edge, a gentle drop point with swedge for the first 1/3 with the Busse widely spaced serrations on the swedge! Coil is ok but ?add meltdown finish on the spine and butt, depending on cost.

0.25 thick at the spine (keeping weight down for carry but still enough to chop), overall 15 in, weight estimate 26 Oz.

After all that chopping on Eucalyptus trees (I am from Australia...) I will need a drink - so there must be a simple lever bottle opener on the butt! It may even open Coors Light... ;)

I don't expect to win anything but typing that dream knife in was TOO much fun to miss out on - thanks guys :D

I would like to see a Busse Competition Cutter...3/8ths spine...flat grind taken down to 22 thou on a convex edge hardened to 61.5 Rc with the horse mat handles designed for grip and comfort using the usual rivets and no choil taking the 10 inch blade out with a traditional Basic 9 type blade shape....and I would accept a disclaimer on the lifetime guarantee...in lieu of a discounted annealing service so the blade could be fixed then re-heat treated and used again should the edge ripple.

skinny nmfsh would be the bees knees

maybe throw some of those groovy thumb grooves on like the SAR4.

I bet any design would score bonus points with the mob if some custom kydex was included :D

Well, the heck with those little, bitty Busses.

How about a sweet, thin Busse Mac -- an INFI Machete? With a nice, long sweep to a wide tip and a firm, grippy handle ... probably with a bulge at the end (to prevent the hand from sliding off). Micarta grip would be perfect here ... rope-cut if at all possible. Shouldn't be any thicker than 3/16" at the thickest part of the spine.

A true machete would have a flat grind or perhaps a simple V (that would keep prices down).

Double Cut finish would be excellent.

If that's just too much steel per knife, I wouldn't object to a Golok.:D

Im not trying to play fan-boy here, but i think OldPhysics nailed it. A simple slim blade, thinner than most INFI offerings (really there are so many fatties (.25" neighborhood or more i was starting to think it was a limitation of the INFI making process, it had to be fat), and comfortable in the hand. Something that can take a true machete beating, and not need the metal taken down because one accidentally hit a rock. Seriously this INFI magic has been begging to be put into a machete platform, can you think of a better steel to do it?

One of my favorite Busse's is the 3B2. I would love to see a new take on it.

Take the same camo paint job and Black hand shaped G10 handles, give it a bit thicker body at .270 or .290 thickness. Put on a penetrator tip and a 10" blade. Call it a 3B2BM, (3B2 Battle Mistress).

I think this would be one wicked chopper that every one would love.

Someone should give this a shot.

Regards, Les.

Don't forget price is an important selling point too. So how about a MOAB like, probably slightly thinner (0.37") version, knife that will cost around $1500, ? I think there are people like me who covet MOAB but just can not afford its current price.

Hmmm.

Even without sophisticated statistical analysis, I'm starting to see a small number of popular "directions" poking through the Gaussian white noise.:)

It will be interesting to look again, after a few days and a few hundred ideas.

Need a cross between a machete and a golok with the Killer Z handle. A 14"-16" blade with a width of about 1.75"; a bit thicker up front, say 2"-2.5", to make it positively nose heavy. Not more than .25 thick to keep it away of the anvil division. Heck, it can be named the Busse Macholok! Ok, maybe not. Still, the knife would surely tackle all conceivable chopping and clearing chores.

Brilliant idea

Or here's another one - a heavy machete / mega chopper

Handle-width blade near the handle, with a sweeping curve that leads to a 3" wide blade near the tip, so it puts lots and lots and lots of weight out at the tip. Curve it back again to a nice point so it can still do some digging and poking, but make that blade nice and wide near the end, so the sweet spot will be just inside the widest point.

Make it from thin infi, naturally, so it doesn't clock in at MOAB/zilla weights. A full flat or saber grind would work well on this more utilitarian blade design. A really steep angled saber grind, with a large flat area, would work brilliantly on a thin blade.

Give it a semi-sharpened area near the handle for striking fire steels, while you're at it.

And hand-shaped sandstorm or tequila sunrise handles, just for kicks.

I would like a miniature version of the SAR4 LE
like about a 2 1/2 in blade.
No choil to keep its overall length small.

Oh, and how about a High Street without the ginormous choil. Preferably with no choil at all :D

How about a "sawed off" MOAB and we call it the "SOB".
It will look like the the MOAB with the front end missing and 10" blade.
That way you can't stick the point in your leg.
An entry tool/ total chopping machine.
Sharpen where the front end is missing and squared off.

INFI Ratweiler! ...the original one.

:D :D

Allright all...Keep them coming but I need to step away from the computer.....

Need to eat..(I forget sometimes:))

Need to think...(Well I am always thinking Way too much)

After that...OH..... ALOT OF DRINKING:)

Once again we really have to THANK EVERYONE for all of the great ideas...

YOU ALL ROCK SO MUCH!!!!

Hmmm...no pictures, huh?

Hey Garth, you remember that drawing I sent you two years ago? ;)

:D

(er, three years ago? :o )

I need a Bird and Trout :D

You could base it on the Culti but with a slightly longer, thinner and not as tall blade.

edit: Or you can just make me one like Hammy's :D.
