CRK Sebenza Problem

wow.

that is really hard to believe. not that i think you're lying, but i have never heard anything like that coming from the crk shop.

did you buy the knife new?

perhaps start with the seller, you may have been mislead regarding condition?

Is the blade play side to side? If so, it might have to do with the bushing being just a bit too thick, as has been the case with three of my Sebs. You could try very lightly sanding the bushing itself, being careful not to overdo it. I've done it with decent results.
Good luck.

This is quite upsetting j would imagine .... I still do t understand why flicking open a knife would void the warrenty .. It doesn't on a spyderco , it doesent in a benchmade , it isn't a problem for any o e but crk and the sebenza is suposed to be a hard use folder!!! I lovely sebs and have never had a problem with one after countless flicks and neither should you!! Regardless if u flicked it or not!!! Its. A high quality knife and shouldn't fall apart after 6 months and CRK should do te honorable thing and honor their warrenty!!!

What do you mean you can't flip the knife open or you will void the warranty?

I thought they were ment to be used, beat on etc, not babied safe queens.

I can beat the crap out of my Striders and it's doesn't void anything, I use Strider as an example sense they are both top of the line folders, maybe that's were the extra $100 in cost comes from on the Strider, we can flick them open.

Fuckin A right !!!! It's a knife and I hope things get made right by CRK!!!

Thank you all for the replies and sympathy. To answer a few of your questions, the knife was brand new when i bought it from knifecenter. There is no side to side blade-play only up and down. The knife was hardly used. This is my first high end knife like this so i haven't thrashed it at all, it was actually my high school graduation present from my parents so it is pretty special to me.

Thanks,
Ben

I would get back on the phone and talk to someone HIGHER to get it fixed as they are not cheap knives.

You said CR called you and told you that you abused the knife and then called you a lier?

I would have sent it right back to Knifecenter.

I would if there is anyone higher, but I think I was talking to Chris Reeve himself.

I would be calling him back for sure, and calling them every day until it was solved, also post the issue on other Knife Forums if it's not.

It is un exceptable for this not to be fixed free of charge !!! The knife in question is a work(sebenza) knife!!! And should be able to take some abuse, which according to u it didn't even see!! I use my seb hard on the construction site every day!!! Let's see some justice here

Benjamin, you should do what is right.
in this case it means making sure that you get a new, replacement Sebenza, or that yours be fixed for free.
you did not say where you bought the knife. first you must ensure that the knife you bought was new, unused, exactly as it was when it left CRK. get a letter from the seller stating what he swears to be true. then write directly to Chis Reeves stating in clear and CONCISE terms exactly what you did with the knife and include a copy of seller's letter. avoid adjectives; e.g. "this inferior knife" or "if you truly were an honorable person". just the FACTS. end by stating what you think is a fair resolution.
in general, what is sent in print form often gets results.
"stick to your guns", politely.

If the blade play is side-to-side then I don't really see what it got to do with flicking. Just try to sand the bushing a bit as flipe8 said (wow flipe8, 3 crappy sebenzas ? wow...)

If blade play is up-down, then check where your lock bar is. If it is not all the way to opposite side, then just take the knife apart and bend the lock bar a bit to the opposite side. That might fix it.

On a side note, CRK flipping thing totally blows.

With all due respect, I think that I am going to side with Chris Reeve's reputation here, as opposed to some dude with 35 posts on BF.

If it had blade play from flipping it open, can we assume that the lock bar was completely touching the other scale?

If that is the case, why did you not do something about it IMMEDIATELY?

That however doesn't mean he isn't correct in what he is saying. ;)

I would like to see photos of the knife in question.

The lockbar was close, however it wasn't touching the other side of the scale it had about half a mm to the other scale. By the way I don't want this to be a CRK vs. I discussion, I just want to hear others opinions on the matter.

When was the knife made? Every Sebenza has the date it was made on the authenticity card. If it had blade play why didn't you address it right away?
