CRKT Sebenza?

CRK made the right decision in keeping it quiet and out of circulation. IMO.
That's a bit like Mercedes coming out with a 600 pound SmartCar. Have mercy...

You can't even be sure this is an "authentic" CRKT Sebenza. Once Chris Reeve kept it off the market, CRKT seems to have had a very few slip out. How many absolute fakes followed, we cannot know.

I am not moving this to the CRK forum.

I had no clue any fakes of the CRKT Sebenza were made. I really doubt someone would fake a cheap zytel knife but I could obviously be wrong. This thread has really seemed to strike a nerve with some people, some real saltiness from a few members via email. Just posted a topic, don't shoot the messenger

People seriously emailing you over this...? LOL wow.

From the pictures I saw I didn't see any metal insert on that Zytel lockbar. Even if there is that is still Fed up. The only other knives I have seen a plastic lockbar on were the worst flea market crap and I believe certain Frost Cutlery linerlocks.

I handled one at a local shop and thought about buying it just to have, but even at the $20 the guy was asking, I felt it wasn't worth it. The thing was absolute garbage.

Yes. Just made a post, I didn't mean to step on toes.

Don't worry about the saltiness. The possibility of a clone knife raises a lot of different emotions here, none of which are placid, :p.

I'm glad you posted this info and thanks for sharing your knife experience.

While the knife may not be up to CRK standards, it still is a part of their history and can be kept for that reason IMO

I feel the same way. If I had an opportunity to buy one at a reasonable price I would just for the sake of having it.

That was my thinking when I bought the knife. It appeals to me because it's an oddity. I didn't plan on using it to cut up firewood

I thought the title of this thread was a mistake and that you'd meant to write "CRK Sebenza." You learn something new every day, I guess. I've never heard of this knife before, but it's an interesting tidbit in knife history. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for posting this.

I was feeling kind of bummed out till I read about this. :)
A plastic frame-lock?
That's the greatest, most ridiculous thing I have heard of in years! :D

I instantly feel better about today, and all my knives.

I think it's a great find. Never heard of counterfeit crkt sebenzas, but I guess it's possible. While it's a crap knife, the rarity of it alone makes it a good find. Hold onto that

I think all mfg's of Ti framelocks should move to zytel lock bar inserts!

So what's the deal is there a metal insert on the lockbar or not? Either way it is totally insufficient.

Does anyone have an extra set of eyeballs. Preferebly green like the pair that just exploded?

I also appreciate the posting with information I didn t know about. Can t think of a stranger collaboration than between CRK and CRKT!
