CRKT Sebenza?

OP how much did you pay for the knife? For $20-ish I would happily pay that for such a rare oddity, but somebody mentioned $90, and if that's what you paid return it if possible. I'd say the most an unusable oddity knife could be worth is like $40, and even at that I would be uncomfortable unless it was a real unique piece. Granted, this is definitely unique in being the worst thing Chris Reeve has even put his name on, and it didn't make it to market.

OP, keep one thing in mind about your new knife. Regardless of what anybody tells you, the value of everything on this planet is determined by what somebody else will pay for it. So while there may be a ton of people saying "oh $90 garbage" I'm sure there are many many many others out there who would snap this up. So if it's real, and I'm sure you could contact CRKT to have it verified if you wanted to, just safe queen it for a rainy day. You might be surprised what somebody might give for a never publicly released CRK collab.

I had no clue any fakes of the CRKT Sebenza were made. I really doubt someone would fake a cheap zytel knife but I could obviously be wrong. This thread has really seemed to strike a nerve with some people, some real saltiness from a few members via email. Just posted a topic, don't shoot the messenger
You can't mess with a couple of the CRK fanboys, they are hyper sensitive. They will jump down your throat if you utter anything negative.

There was once a "how can a Sebenza be improved thread" I mentioned I didn't like the pointy thumbstud on my Wilson Combat and one dude from Canada went nuclear. Acted like I stabbed his dog or something.

PS I had thought the back story on this collab was that the locking mechanism wasn't reliable.

I want one. It is the most divine piece of wtf knife history no one seems to want to remember. I eould have LOVED to have been a fly on the wall when the poor proud sap from columbia handed that knife to chris reeve for his approval. If mr reeve has ever done a face palm i would assume that was the moment. And seriously, what chemical substance was floating through the crkt offices that had their design team make that and go "nailed it!" OP please know I am not making fun of you or saying you made a poor choice. I actually think that thing may become a collectable if real.

Alright, I paid $75 for it. I'm sure it's real , it's just super strange. If I decide to sell it down the road hopefully I can make my money back...possibly more  ;)

Thanks for the positive post lol. I just thought the knife was interesting and wanted to share.

Only one way to describe this CRK(T) knife:

;)

It's the Star Wars Holiday Special of knives! :D

Warning, the Star Wars Holiday Special is worse than you can possibly imagine...

BLLLLAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I struggled to come up with an adequately descriptive parallel, but failed. You, Sir, filled the gap splendidly.

OP, I'm also glad that you posted this. I love learning something new in the history of our hobby, and this is plain cool. If I spot one some day and the price tag looks doable, I'm definitely going to add it to my collection. It's just too off-the-wall to pass up.

PURPLEDC, that would definitely have been the Don't-Miss-It business meeting of the millennium. "Nailed it!" LMFAO!

That Special is one big, steaming turd, lol!

Yep. :)

Glad to be of service. ;)

Stabman, you are my mortal enemy. I never knew that existed. And I would have been completely fine with it staying that way. :D :barf:

It is seriously one of the worst things I have ever watched during my entire lifetime.
I think I would prefer to carry a gas station folder for a year than be forced to sit through the entire thing ever again. :D

I am seriously glad the OP started this thread though, honestly.
That is a really unique knife, and a part of knife history.
It was really cool to learn about it.
And it didn't scar my brain the way the Star Wars Holiday Special did.

If I hadn't read this here with people's confirmation that there had in fact been a collaboration between CRK and CRKT I would have assumed a counterfeiter had made a typo on it

Just making an educated(IMO) guess, but it may be due to Chris not authorizing the release of the product-he scraped the project before release, though some go out.

Technically speaking, these knives in the wild bearing the Sebenza name ARE counterfeits if Chris never approved their release. They should all be destroyed :p.
