Crowdog Survival Contest Results

I think i spent about 6hours on the shelter.
that is a rough estimate.
I spent a good deal of time on building a sound structure and here is why.
i knew i had found the best spot byfar compared to all the other spots i had come acrossed in my hiking. I was having trouble finding fresh water so once i was at that spot i was going to make that base camp.
The morning i left, the weather station had forcasted storming fri and sat so i knew i needed something strong and sound so i really put good time to get quality.
After the storming fri night, i am very glad i did.
LOL

i built a "sound structure" for the shelter contest and it took me 3 hours...it was also 95 degrees out, i had 3 kids w/ me (4 if you count mr. shotty) and i'm 1/2 your size........i don't buy 6 hours.

First, i am not positive your idea of sound and mine are of simular nature.
Your taking three hours has no relavence to the amount of time it may take me to do the same task, and i did not know there was time constraints involved within the ruling. I completed the structure in a timely enough manner to not get wet.
Juggling 3 and 1mankid:D is quite a task while completing such a structure as you did, although i highly doubt from what i saw within your photos that it would have faired well within the storm i was in, not to discredit your structure in any way. As for buying/believing my Rough estimate of 6hours, like i said it is a Rough estimate. sorry, if i knew i needed to keep a time of how long it was taking to complete tasks i would have asked for a new ruling on the watch braclet necklace desision that Jeff and and others had earlier ruled on, i could have keep exact time. I kind of just jumped in and did it. im sorry you dont believe me.

no time constraint I just cant imagine how a bodybuilder who's "fit" can take 6 hours to build a shelter for yourself.

and if you want to go tit for tat over shelters.....mine was still standing more then a week after i built it.

As was resolved in the now flaminggay "top bodybuilder shoting 1000" thread,
being a bodybuilder does not mean that have a built phisque will insure an aptitude for surival skills/craft.
I have never built a shelter of that style, i researched and wanted to do it right, how i had seen it done. so i took the amount of time i had to make it as right as i could get it.
and please do understand i am not going tit for tat on your shelter, "no discredit at all to your shelter" i just was explaining that i felt my structure required alittle bit more security for my own comfort. I do not doubt you structure is still standing it was well made, i looked to it for guidence prior to my own trip:thumbup:
