Crystal Meth and Wilderness Survival

Another issue is coming across these scumbags in the woods. I haven't and hope I never do. They're supposedly prevalent in certain parts of the Ocala National Forest that the FL Trail passes through.

And yes, people make drugs out of all sorts of crap. I was carded at Lowes while buying Weldwood contact cement.

Maybe I am wearing a tinfoil hat, but all these restrictions on lawbiding citizens makes me wonder about what are our government is up to, and what will be restricted in the future, fuel, food, travel, tools etc.... control of the people. All for our own good of course.

Wait until they force you to buy health insurance. The insurance companies will, once again, have a captive audience like they do with people who own vehicles. This time, everyone will have to kick in. They will love it. They think this is going to drive prices down, it will do the opposite unless they neuter the insurance agencies...which they might do to eliminate their competition as well.

No tinfoil, no "conspiracy theories." When they are providing your healthcare, they will, to one degree or another, tell you how you are going to eat and drink, etc., etc., etc.

Basically, the government can do whatever it wants to do. People that say otherwise are simply incurable optimists.

I'm not saying anything:D;)

well, one thing .gov is up to, is training all of us to do as we are told. We are being conditioned to just sigh, and move right along when another restriction is placed up on us. Oh, a restriction 'for our own good', ya know?
Face it folks, we are living in a repressive society now, and the segue from being free Citizens to being inmates was so gradual that most never even noticed.

You know, they really are a bunch of asshats, but they didn't take these things from you.

Politicians and law enforcement keep "controlling" and banning things but it's so funny, really...the meth monkeys...they keep cooking the meth. How is that?

"Controlling" Sudafed, HEET, Blue Diamond Matches, Lithium Batteries and all of these other things is the same thing as gun control. Who does it hurt? It's not even putting a dent in the meth game.

Who was it that said "necessity" was the plea of every tyrant or something like that and all... :)

Don raises a good point.

Also, how many of you good ol' boys love yer NASCAR? A sport essentially started by people essentially doing the same thing. Not that I think it's ok to cook meth, just playing a bit of Devil's advocate.:p;)

We suck. We the sheeple (U.S. eligible voters) have done this to ourselves. Either by our actions, or in not acting.

At least we can still buy matches.

sourcing of basic materials aside,

here in BC we have the following issues in some areas, generally logging road access:

- grow ops in the woods, guarded, boobytrapped, and unguarded grows....
- meth labs, usually in truck campers dropped off in the woods.
- grow op waste dumping (toxic/hazardous chemicals, byproducts)

most serious one i came across was scruffy looking guys in a beat to crap camper, making meth. I just kept on driving, my buddy beside looking white as he realized both men were armed with rifles. As we drove by i could see hundreds of barrels, buckets, and a pile of car batteries about 20' high by 30' wide.

another one i came across was a grow op. I tripped over a 4" bore ABS pipe as i hiked up the stream with my fly rod. Followed it down about 300 feet into the woods. Keep in in mind this was almost 50 KMS down a decommissioned old logging road. Found myself staring at about 1000 plants. I beelined out of there.

Well, as far as drugs like meth and PCP are concerned, the manufacture of them would have to remain illegal because you're making a very toxic brew of chemicals...the byproducts and the process is not safe. I don't want people making it near my home!

As far as the potheads and their little fields, best way to eliminate them is to legalize it. Alcohol Prohibition didn't work, this isn't going to work. "Well, it's not going to work taking that kind of attitude! 'Planning to fail!'"

B.S., it's not going to work.

Take the value right away from the growers AND smugglers AND dealers in one, fell swoop.

But...it's not going to happen...and it's not a conspiracy...look at the Yellow Pages, drunk driving and drug use and drug dealing is a great business, look at the lawyer section! The only thing that even approaches it is divorce, custody and workman's compensation cases. It's not going to go away. What would we do without our prison economy?
