CS New American Lawman Hard Use Video

But...but...it's just AUS8 instead of a supersteel...and who needs a lock that strong if you use it like you should (like a slip-joint), ...and...and...

AUS-8 is great steel..

And the knife is under $70 most places. ;)

It's for those who want a knife that won't fail or just want a very strong knife.

There isn't any knife on the market anywere near it's price range that will come even close. (Other than the Recon 1 and Mini Lawman with the Tri-Ad Locks).

Most knives would have snapped in my video I just did with this knife and the few that didn't snap would have loosened up a lot.

One would have to spend one heck of a lot more money than $70 to get a knife that would even be close. That is reality, not fiction, if you don't believe me send me your knife and I will do exactly the same thing and break it on video and send you back the pieces.

Sarcasm. Reread. None of the haters have shown yet so I was making the usual noises for the anti-CS-ers. And I doubt you'll snap this new AK.

Great video - I didn't load up that video expecting to be impressed, thanks!

Few little things go, where's the hockey mask? Also what are you whispering to yourself as you turn off the cam? It sounds like "It's so hot out here" or "this is a nightmare"...

:p:p:p

Yeah it's feaking hot around here now.... :grumpy:

Thanks man. :)

Here is a photo of the 3 I just did videos on, as you can see the American Lawman is still in one piece. :D

I forgot to say mall ninja this-and-that too. Sucks that they aren't bringing out the Voyagers this year or we'd have a bunch of sub-$100 knives from 3-5.5 inches getting the same abuse on Youtube & making the same crowd uncomfortable. Plan on pounding a Recon 1 like that?

As soon as it gets here I plan on beating the crap out of it...

It's on back order... :grumpy:

I had one of the New Voyagers on order also, but I can wait. :)

Not sure about that. The Rajah III and Spartan appear to be similarly tough and comparably priced.

Looking forward to seeing this video tonight.

I bet a Griptilian would do it. And I bet a Manix 2 would do it.

Not without damage they won't. ;)

Really? Why is that? They transfer forces to a stop pin just like the Triad lock does. So why should they be damaged and the Lawman not? In fact the new lawman doesn't even have any metal liners to transfer forces to, just G10. How many spine whacks does it take to deform G10 around the stop pin versus a piece of stainless steel?

I have used my AXIS lock and ball bearing locks pretty hard and watched some videos of some pretty serious (ab)use. I don't think some spine whacks and a little battoning is going to cause damage, but that is my opinion.

It would be interesting to see the knives Folks here really like go through something similar to Jim's Hard-Use Test.

The Griptillian is a folder i'm pretty interested in and if it's up to the task, i'd like to see a video of it.

FWIW, jankerson's willing to bet the cost of his knife to show us if it will really make the grade - you've GOTTA STOP THIS!!! You're killing me here! So, now i'm shopping for one of these big dogs... I wish it had a smaller profile for EDC - i have a Spydie Delica that's about perfect for back-pocket carry for a size reference.

The Axis lock will loosen up and develop play, I know that from experience. ;)

I wouldn't bet on being about to pry with them either, I have seen both knives and handled them.

Better watch it again and look at the angle of the blade when I was hitting it, I did it at that angle on purpose to overstress it to see if it would loosen up.

Because you've tried those knives?

I know what the Axis Lock will do, it wouldn't fail, but will develop blade play under hard stress (Up and down play at the least). ;)

I have played with a Manix 2 and I wouldn't want to try it if I owned the knife. ;)

If I can dig mine up I'll send it to you.

I did it at that angle to overstress the knife and see if it would loosen up, if you don't believe me try it for yourself. It puts a lot of stress on the pivot at that angle.....

Nothing I saw in that video should damage either one of the knives I mentioned. Both are designed to adjust for wear to keep them from developing play. They use similar materials that should perform just as well as what the Lawman uses. I would like to know what about their design would cause them to be damaged when they get their strength in a very similar way to the Lawman. Forces get transferred in a similar way in all designs so why would one survive and the rest fail?
