CSC - Share your Canal Street Cutlery Knives

Will you look at the bone on that! Please tell more!?

Jim

Wish I could...Can't tell you where I got it, either by trade or bought it off a site, I can't recall. I'll check the box tonight to see what bone it lists it as. It is a dandy though, I agree!

You guys are posting up some absolute beauties!! Glenn that's a pretty old whittler, probably from around 2006ish.

How about some ram's horn?

Here’s my previously shown Half Moon Trapper in brown canvas micarta along with my most recent addition, a Pinch Lock Back in smooth sunset bone. Both are new old stock—the Pinch was made in 2011 and the HMT in 2012.

Eric--I LOVE ram's horn. It might just be my favorite handle material. I don't have it on any knives, but on a straight razor and the horn gets more grippy when it gets wet. Yours are stunning! You must have an inside track to get such fine specimins. ;)

cairndude--those are both exceptional! Well done.

Since I've been oversharing my Coppersmith Barlow, here's another Canal Street:

Great rams horn, Eric!!!

Love that barlow, Derrick!

Canal Street Cutlery makes some pretty nice knives! These are my personal favorites.

Half Moons - Micarta, G10 & Carbon fiber

Moon Pie with G10 and all stainless construction

Moon Pie in antique bone

Pinch Lockbacks in Micarta, Kirinite and Carbon Fiber

Swell Center Jack. This knife is the one that really ignited my interest in traditional cutlery. It's a tank, but very well made. Here she is in Red Linen Micarta.

The G10 in the top picture looks amazing! That photo really complements the color. Is it translucent by any chance? Thanks for posting!

Thanks! I like that one so much that I made it a user. Probably my favorite yellow handled knife. Yes, it is a bit translucent.

I'm glad to see Canal Street Cutlery get some recognition. They have built some of my favorite knives. This Half-Moon Trapper is among my best knives: thin, easy to pocket, yet with a strong, capable and lengthy blade. I also love the historic background of the reclaimed Chestnut from an old barn.

Hey Robb what is the pull like on that beauty?

Robb, here's another pic of the 'yellow jelly'.

The Half Moon Trappers and the Pinch Lockbacks are really outstanding. They pack a lot into a nice slim package. The Coppersmiths are the exact same patterns.

Robb and Draggat, those are some beauties!

Here's a shot of some antler, got some sambar, white tail, elk, and a muley:

Nice lineup there Eric! I didn't realize that liner lock was so large!!

Here's a couple more of mine.

3-4 that is crisp and precise. I've really come to appreciate CSC's consistency and philosophy concerning construction. Their pull is very uniformly medium light, yet never sloppy or loose. Other companies may over tighten blades to reduce blade play--yet CSC routinely makes smooth pulls without being nail breakers.

I tested most of them at their first Open House. ;)

Thanks! That and the jade are exceptional. Don't know how I missed those. In general I think trappers/small trappers have some of the best action. X2 for CSC Trappers/Half-Trappers.
