Cult of the peanut , members

Perhaps a Craftsmen and maybe even a P-38 should be standard wallet gear for all Cult members!

Sort of a mini size Holy Trinity.:D

Are Sears pocket screwdrivers still available? Definitely good to keep a "John Wayne" handy.

Still at the Sears near me in the tool section. All of .99 cents last I checked, but that's been a while. It's a lot like a peanut, a little thing that's veery easy to under estimate, but full of lots of function. Small pry tool, flat and phillips screw driver, bottle opener with right technique. Same for the P-38. Very multiple function. But flat enough to keep in a wallet with no problem. Combined with a peanut, they make a very versatile trio of tools.

That's an oldie, lol... How long have you had that pocket screwdriver? I can tell by the stamping Sears, Roebuck and Co that it's an older one.

Oh gosh, that screw driver must date back to the late 50's or early 60's, can't quite recall. May even be the one that was in dad's wallet when he passed away. The P-38 is 1960's vintage before they used stainless steel. Lots of use on both, and both have been situation savers many times, for things other than what they were designed for.

Not surprised, I remember that old Sears logo and the font - from a long time ago!

Not forgetting my baby... :)

I just wanted to say, I bought into the Peanut thing a few years ago reading up on Jackknifes stories. I could not however get by solely on that small blade. Always had it as back up to something a little bigger, Medium Stockman, Sodbuster Jr. or some such. This past summer I acquired a Case Medium Jack (087) in the black Delrin. That kicked out everything else right out of the pocket. I began carrying that knife with a Peanut as back up. Then recently, I picked up a stag Small Gunstock. A smaller jack than the 087. It seems to work just fine for my day to day needs. I work in a warehouse office environment as manager and visit some greenhouses and nurseries. I just don't need much blade anymore. I keep bigger blades in my wagon, just in case, but seldom need them. I hunt a little, fish a little, garden a little and get by. If I wasn't such a Knife Nut, I could get by with only 2 or 3 altogether, but I just can't sever that demon! Hat's off to Jackknife for opening the eyes of many of us to a simpler way.

Don't thank him, he's an enabler!

As Carl knows, I might carry a few too many knives, but I usually have my peanut, a SAK on my keychain and a knife with a 3" blade (either a GEC 73 single blade, Case Tribal Spear or Larock dogleg jack). Out of all of those, the peanut sees the most use anymore. Every time I think the peanut is too small for a job, it steps up to the plate. My uncle, who is the smallest but toughest of my uncles and father, and the oldest, likes to say "The smaller the potato, the tougher to peel". These little peanuts are like jack Russell terriers. Small, tough, and full of you know what and vinegar. If you don't pay enough attention to them, they might just bite you too, like a playful nip from a JK.

Here's mine. My fiance's parents gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago because they know I like knives. Great gift!

You married into a great family!

Everyone is getting a knife. Seems my family told me they have enough knives, while my brother in law and my baby sisters boyfriend want more! One is a Buck guy, the other loves old knives. I won't tell them, but that is a plus in my book ;)... Of course first and foremost, they take care of my sisters. I'm slowly converting my other sister's boyfriend, he's got a car kit for his Jeep.

And a cool plane!

Thanks. I picked that up at a local air museum. It's my fiance's favorite plane from that era. She likes old cars, planes, hiking, camping, fly fishing, microbrews, and a bunch of other stuff that many women can't stand, and she at least appreciates (and tolerates my obsession with) knives and fountain pens. I'm a very lucky guy. :D
