Just thought I'd drop in here and post this. I still always have a peanut on me.

Family photo of my 'nut rotation.
My old trusty Circle C case that I've carried almost every day for the past 8 years, the WR Case in brown that was my Dads, and my newest, received yesterday, a Carhartt Case.

Still loving this stag and raindrop Damascus combo--it's like pocket candy!

Holy Jackal Jaws, Robb, what's not to love about that Prince of Peanuts!??!:thumbup::thumbup: It's absolutely stunning!
You call it pocket candy, and today IS Halloween, so if I just say, "Trick or Treat", you'll drop it in my bag, right? :D

My dad just purchased his first traditional, and it was a peanut. I walked into his house to help him install some windows yesterday and it was just hanging out next to his Spyderco endura. I was pretty surprised as he has always been more into modern knives.

No pics but it was a nice and simple brown derlin case peanut, cant go wrong with that.

Heya fellows, has anybody wharncliffed or sheepsfooted the main blade on their peanut?

A sheepsfoot has become my most used blade style, and I'm seriously considering taking the tip/curve off the main blade in my new Carhartt Case. Kinda an "Improved" Peanut, to use the term every manufacturer like for sticking a wharncliffe blade in..

Just wondering if I'm the only one, or if others have wanted/tried this. :) (pics welcome! ;) )

A.G. Russell has done more than think about it.

Here is a Wharncliffe-clip peanut. http://agrussell.com/knife/3936

The guys are going to pay you a visit, and you'll be taken to the Cult's main headquarters. I'm still trying to convince them to drive the Suburban I bought them. Rules and dogma and all that...

Very nice collection, I like it. Did your father's knife have carbon steel blades?

Thanks!

Nope, its TrueSharp SS. Its not an original/vintage WR Case, not very old at all, its a remake/special run they did somewhere around 2005 or 06. :)

I got my first, the Circle C one summer after jackknifes stories here. That fall/winter I got two more, one for each of my parents. One was that WR Case special run for Dad, the other another special run with a different stamp/shield that I can't remember at the moment... They were both a year or two old, and on clearance.

Dad never carried this one, he was the sentimental kind with gifts, and it was such a small knife he was afraid of losing it. He passed away in late 2011 and I inherited it back. Carried or not, it was still his and he loved it, so its great to have it to carry.. Mom still has hers, and carries it/uses it daily.

Come to think of it, Mom should be a member of the cult more than I should... Hers is used daily, or almost daily... Mine is carried every day, but rarely used weekly, or even monthly anymore..

Great to hear these stories. Whether used daily or just now and then, it's always there and ready at a moment's notice.

At my little brothers surprise birthday party thrown by his girlfriend, I gave my little bro the single blade Damascus peanut that Duane/Sitflyer gave to me. I told him this was his go to meetin' knife, don't wear it out. I didn't go into detail that it was the type of knife I've always seen my father carry (peanuts and small pen knives). He was very appreciative, more so than even the balisongs I've given him. A real adult's knife if you will. I'm carrying Carl's knife 24/7, and always afraid I'm going to lose it. I love these little buggers, and they're only going to pry this little pattern from my fat dead hands.

Now I have to find a Damascus peanut for my pop ;)...

Do any of you have a picture of the peanut next to the swayback jack? I'm really itching for a peanut in CV and yellow covers, but the swayback jack has about as small a blade as I'm willing to carry. The peanut is certainly shorter closed, but the specs suggest the main blades are roughly the same length.

I picked up a new-to-me stainless Case Peanut with stag covers at a gun&knife show about 9 days ago. Mighty fancy knife for me! The stag is quite smooth, but looks good to me, even though I'd generally prefer a more textured stag. The stag slabs are also kind of fat in the middle, but on a little knife like this, that extra width in the hand actually feels pretty good.

I am also a fan of the Peanut. Recently I picked up an E-bay buy.
I have not seen any other smaller traditional folders from RR, and was wondering if anyone has any
info they would care to share.

I believe it was in this thread once, that I remember Jackknife saying that all Peanuts, and other small knives should come with a bail. Recently, I've been thinking thats Very true, since I've been wanting a Case(or any other brand for that matter) 'nut with a bail for my watch chain, but they make so few options with the bail... and they're all on the expensive end(for my budget). Why can't at least the CV rd bone or CV chestnut... even the classic yellow composite in CV or SS come with a bail? Anyway...

As a simple solution, I introduced my Carhartt Peanut to my machinists callipers, and my drill press. :)

I end with a poor mans bailed peanut!

That is rather cool! The Case small Pen comes with a bail. On sale now at the Hills store. Purple I think. Good job!
