Cult of the peanut , members

Thank you! He is indeed.

I asked him about a knife I could get for him with the year of his birth stamped on the tang. He said he didn't need anything but his yeller peanut.

Due in large part to the influence of the Cult, my first 'nut arrived today. What a sweet little knife!

Called in the props department for a quick photo shoot :D

Here it is with another serpentine jack pattern, a Yellow Rose GEC Northfield #56:

Very excited about the Peanut. It came peanut whittling sharp and the patina... will never arrive 'cause this little dude is stainless :p

I'm home today and it will remain in my pocket while I stalk knife sites in search of the next 'nut. Thanks, guys!

I've been meaning to get this trio of peanuts together for a family photo to post here in the "Cult" thread, hoping to be able to obtain member status.

Member status? With three 'nuts to your name?

The ownership of one peanut grants you access to the secret meeting place. Any peanut will do, even the basic yellow 'nut. Two peanuts gives you a voice at the general council. Three peanuts means you're a serious 'nut owner, and you have entrance to the Board meeting held in different places each month. .

Welcome to club Ed J. I'm down to 8... I think over 5 means you have to provide refreshments. :o

 I'll see if ~P can help me come up with some. First I guess I have to get some more peanuts.

From the patina on that yella 'nut, your son is putting it to good use. That alone qualifies him for membership in good standing of the cult.

Carl.

Thanks again Carl. Here are some updated shots, five months later. My son is home from college on Christmas break, and I snapped these before he put it back in his pocket this morning.

That's great, Doug!

I can only wonder if your son is lucky enough that he's going to avoid having "our" affliction. That of knife knutitus. He may well be spared the forever ongoing search for the "one" knife that will serve his needs and lifestyle. I often wish I had been more like my old man, who was very content to go through his life with one pocket knife, one sheath knife, and a cut down machete for the dirty work. Instead, it's been a never ending search the one precious.

On the other hand, it's been fun, and I would have hated collecting stamps. And I never would have ended up here, and met some of the nicest folks on the planet.

Your son looks like he's found his.

Well Doug, I have the same problem as your son, 1 electric, 6 acoustic guitars( they are all set up and tuned differently) 2 mandolins, a banjo, a bass, countless harmonicas & a keyboard. Music was my first affliction, knives were always with me as a tool, and accumulated a few through the years, but I blame the forum for the major accumulation that has taken place.

Oh, wait!! I think I've got one of those. Forgot all about it until you posted your pic, Powernoodle.

Seeing all the peanuts on here has had me wanting one for a while. Well today I rescued this little guy from the local flea market. Blades are tight and have great snap. A little mineral oil bath and wipe down and then it went straight into my pocket.

Very nice Rob. I'd like to find one like that, but the only Old Timers I see at the flea market are beat up 8OTs. You got a winner there.

Rob - that Schrade OT Peanut is a beauty! What a great find, a real gem with a lot character! ... Welcome the Cult Of The Peanut :D

Rob, that's a very nice old Schrade you have there. If I remember right, they used a strait 1095 for those Old Timer blades. They cut great, and hold a good edge, and sharpen up pretty easy. Good stuff there!

Would one 'Nut being almost blasphemous (stainless, not vintage or Case, synthetic but not yella, even ( ) stainless bolsters and liners) and two of the exact same still count as three Grand High Muckba?
