Cult of the peanut , members

Congrats on your new Peanut BB!! And to have it presented to you by our Fearless Leader himself - WOW!!!

That Boker is a beauty! I love those scales

Yes that's definitely within the "Peanut" category... welcome to the Cult!
Was that one re-scaled?

It looks a lot like an Imperial I have which seems to fit the bill but did not qualify under some of the conditions discussed earlier in the thread, IIRC inclusive of the "uneven bolsters" requirement. Which is odd, because this thing has "nut" written right on it. :D

Jeff mentioned that he cleaned up and rehandled that Imperial using mammoth in his thread here. Good thread to follow, watch as he evolves his craft. He's doing some really nice work!

Ah ok it looks great.

Ref your knife... Is it perhaps because it breaks the 3" mark? Not sure... Carl or Dan are the final authorities on that, lol

Hmmmm.

I've always thought that the dogleg jacks are close first cousins of the peanut. Definite family genes, but not immediate family. They get honorary membership in The Cult.

Thank you for the compliment sir! I can see room for a peanut sized knife in my collection. The dogleg frame works great on a small knife with my thumb on the spine and middle finger on the underside of the knife with my ring finger. I might end up listing this little Imperial though to pay for the Viper that I have reserved.... Maybe I should look into my first Case :)

It's a weird angle in the pic because of the extreme closeup, but IIRC the Tuf-Nut hits 3" tip to tip on the nose. It's serpentine but it has the symmetrical/same-sized bolsters.

Woo! :D That should tide me over 'til my red bone Case arrives.

The ironic part is that I went for so many years without ever having owning a peanut and within a couple of days, I now have two. Someone else just sent me a Boker Peanut. It's slightly larger than the Case but not by much. It's also a somewhat reversed Peanut as the blade pivots are set on the opposite ends of the Case version.

I was thinking of making my second peanut a jigged chestnut Case, but that Boker sure is interesting. Makes for a nice contrast!

It finally arrived and it is every single bit as gorgeous as it looked in the photos. Aside from a slightly-excessive pull on the pen blade, this is the perfect "first peanut" IMO. I give you my official entry to the Cult of the Peanut, the Case #20 in smooth red bone circa 1980:

When our "Welcoming Committee" arrives to induct you into the Cult, they might be able to file the kick down a little bit.

Carl is going to do a video when he "alters" the pull on his Case peanut.

He just doesn't know it yet...

:D

A nut on steroids...my new to me 5 blade (including scissors) 6520SSM. Made in '97. Just took it out of the box yesterday...

Leave it to Case to make a Swiss Army Nut. :D That is a pretty great little knife. Just don't let Sarah see it, she's had the blues pretty badly this week and it's quite possible she could abscond with your mega-peanut. :p

From yesterday's mail, the jigged counterpoint to my smooth red bone 'nut. In the pocket today, pictured here with its adopted "daddy":

Thanks TsarBomba.

Beautiful knives as well!

Thank you. :) Say, did you have that wonderful mega-nut in the box yourself for some of that time? I don't know if I could leave one as cool as that in the box and out of sight. If anything it's worth carrying just for people's reactions to a tiny goliath like that. :o

Now if only I could get a clip+scissors version in my favored Case smooth green bone (or that amazing green curly maple posted in a few threads earlier )...

Thanks Arizonaranchman! Yes this little nut pretty much covers off all the bases for blade choice. Surprisingly it has pretty good snap to the blades as well, each having its own spring and half stop (except scissors). The scissors are pretty good, and have a tiny screw for adjusting them. They aren't as good as those on a SAK.

Hi Tsarbomba, I bought the knife brand new from a guy who used to sell Case knives. It had been sitting unused and unopened since he bought it in '98. There is no way I could hold out that long with it sitting in the box if I owned it. I may carry it, but I haven't decided. I don't want to lose it! Lol!

The fit and finish is great on this knife, Case did a great job.
