Cult of the peanut , members

I decided to carve a spoon today, and the Peanut took care of the detail work. Also, it is now seven months of daily carry on the little legume.

My newest peanut in amber jigged bone, stainless. This is my fourth Case peanut. Plus, I have a fifth one in blue bone on the way! Methinks I might be slowly collecting peanuts. [emoji4] They're just so handy and easy to carry. Just today I purchased two more for Christmas gifts. [emoji319]

Splendid spoon, Ben! Do you still do the little crosses (with 2 sticks and a peg)? I think my first memory of you at BF was of the cool little cross you carved with your Vic Pioneer. ;) I still have to try making one of those myself!

Most definitely, yes, I'm still a canoesseur! Just today I received a Case Canoe in amber jigged bone, cv. My first Case Canoe. I have a weakness for peanuts and canoes. [emoji4]

Congrats on the Case canoe; it matches your peanut, right?
I probably have close to 3 dozen canoes now, but the vast majority are inexpensive Rough Riders, Marbles, and Colt canoes that I thoroughly enjoy. I've "pulled the trigger" on the Case amber jigged canoe several times, but it seems I shop with the safety on ;), so I don't have one yet. But this is a topic that I shouldn't bring up here in Cult headquarters! Let me try to make amends: I'm carrying this Case stag peanut this week, and it's one of my favorites. :D

Ben, excellent spoon!
OldEngineer, beautiful purchase!

The last couple weeks my pocket has become reacquainted with three other small non-peanut knives. One day I even dusted off a modern folder with an over 3 inch blade and a pocket clip. I found myself incredibly self-conscious with that bright and shiny pocket clip with a little etched spider on it. Felt like I was trying to say to the world, "look at me, I've got a great big knife that can hardly peel an apple but 'deploys' one handed!" The next day it was back in the closet and a small slipjoint was back in my pocket. Love my little knives. Particularly my Peanut. [emoji7]

Wow! That stag peanut looks awesome! Love it! [emoji106] By the way, I think we should start a Cult of the Canoe. It may not attract as many members as this fine group, but it should exist!

Yes! That's an excellent idea, Alex!

I usually favor stockman patterns with their clip main blades, and have said so in on this forum but when I think back I realize that a lot of the time I have one of my Case canoes in my pocket.

My first Case peanut came home with me from the local brick-n-mortar knife shop. It'll take some carry time to really get to know it, but my first observation is that it's not really a small knife - it's more a shortened version of a regular jack knife. The master blade is just a tad shorter than the one on my favorite medium stockman (which itself is an 087 pen knife with an added layer for a spey blade).

The shortened handle doesn't seem to be any limitation on the peanut. Even with my medium stockman knives, I generally cradle the handle in my fingers and thumb and place my index finger on the spine of the blade close to the tip. A very secure grip that provides good control of the blade.

I think I'm going to really like this knife.

Oh, that is a beautiful blue, Alex!

Edit to add: You went with blue too, Jeff. Nice!

Thanks aaroneous!

Thanks, Rachel!

Alex - beautiful blue peanut! (Actually, it's got nicer covers than mine, I think.) Thank you for encouraging me to both get a peanut and post a picture of it in this long-running thread. Sorry about "wearing the same color dress to the party!" I had been composing my message off and on over about two hours while doing other things and hadn't updated the page in that time before pressing "send." :D

Jeff, I love that we have similar peanuts! While I like them both...who doesn't love blue?...I like your blue peanut better! Your Case shield is quite nice, too.

The peanut is the perfect non-threatening, unobtrusive, and easy to carry pocket knife. Plus, they're rather attractive and so very capable. This is why I'm gifting a few to friends/family who aren't knife knuts. They make wonderful Christmas gifts, I think. I carry different knives, but I always have a peanut on me.
