Forgive me if this was brought up already, but I wonder why case doesn't have more pattern selections for the cv blade.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm looking for a Case knife right now, and I wish more of them were offered in CV.

I'll third that question!

I've seen some 'nuts that I would like to have, but they are all true sharp. I don't have anything against true sharp, but I much prefer the CV.

They have a brilliant blue bone that I love, but it's only in the S.S. And I love the wharncliffe mini copperhead, but again, only stainless.

Case, are you listening????

For some reason the manufacturers have their preferences. Case has a limited group of knives in CV, and GEC doesn't like to do stainless.

I think the only three currently offered Case CV peanuts are Chestnut jigged bone, yellow Delrin, and dark red bone.

Ladies and gents, this thread is about Case Peanuts, not about Case knives with CV steel blades. If you want to talk about CV steel, either find an existing thread about CV steel, or start a new thread.

I never really warmed to the peanut, seems they always like to bite me. I've bought a couple, tried them and gave them to my wife for her collection. Then I spied this little fella' in the exchange...hmmm, single blade, Damascus steel, and stag...maybe...

I'm giving this one a shot, riding in the watch pocket, and just letting bygones be bygones...a little ride across my stones and this is one sharp little bugger ;) easily pierces about 30 pages of phone book paper and slices clean, the stag has a little swell in the middle so it affords a workable grip for me...we shall see...

Oh yeah, that's a beauty Duane

I used to think I wouldn't get any use out of a single blade Peanut as I use the pen blade just as often as the clip, but then I landed that Camillus Yello-Jaket and find a single blade Peanut is just fine!

Griff

Thanks Griff, it is a beauty, and for me the single blade is what makes this one tick, I can pinch open this Peanut with my big ole mitts, and the stag is more grippy than the bone handled versions I have tried :)

Oooweee....... I really like that one! I've been struggling with the ergonomics of the peanut as well. Especially with the pen blade. I don't have large paws but I do have a touch of stiffness and arthritis in the fingers and sometimes its a bit tricky handling such a small knife. I just love the knife so much though.....

Lately I've been carrying my Case peanut cv around. It only happens on occasion but it sounds like when I open the blade it makes a rubbing sound like there's sand or a particle in the liner. When I look real closely I don't see any dirt inside.

Have you oiled the joints recently? Sometimes the pivot gets junk in it and needs to be flushed out. Try WD-40 or Rem Oil, then open and close the blades a few times and spray out again. Wear gloves so you don't cut yourself on those slippy little blades!

I've been using the mineral oil on the blades but I think I will try your method of flushing it out with wd-40 and than blow it out with some air.

While I carry a Pemberton more these days, I am still in the Cult...

Loving the Damascus Peanuts!

I carried a single blade Pemberton briefly, but it lost out to my Peanut because the Pemberton blade is too tall to fit in my pipe bowl. I went back to my Peanut, for the pen blade. A two blade Pemberton might have met my needs better, but, I can buy two peanuts for less than the cost of one Pemberton.

I really like the Peanut because of it's simplicity. It is small and easy to use. Keep it simple.

Valid point. I do not feel my pembertons (I own five) are better than my peanuts (I own six). The Pembertons just give me a little more grip. Both are great knives, and if I am honest about it, are all I need most days.
