Mind if I butt in?

My chestnut peanut with yesterday's batch of baguettes.

while it's a little small, it tackles all of its chores with ease!

I have been eyeing a Chestnut CV peanut locally. I could order it on line, but I would have to wait another 3-4 days. (I can always wait to save some money.)

For a guy who "didn't like" his first peanut I sure am buying a lot of them! I got my dad the 125th anniversary model in Navy Blue and I bought the red bode w/CV blades.

Tonight I bought the stag model peanut. Looks pretty awesome! Will follow with good pics!

No one can buy just one! ;):D

Captain O, you influenced me to order a jar of Renaissnace Polish/Wax for my CV blades. I've always put patinas on them, but if there's something to preserve that GORGEOUS shiny carbon look I sure do want it! I still like and appreciate patinas, but ever since I bought a Mora Heavy Duty Companion in carbon steel I love that shiny new look. Just like the carbon condyle cutters I run in the Fanuc Robodrills all night at work!

Thanks man, I think I'm becoming a peanut fan, I just need something better than pink/candycane handle stock! That CV 'Nut with the not-so-deep red bone handles is perfect for my 4 1/2 yr old little girl!

Can't believe I just spent over $100 on a stag Peanut. It will be the first stainless Case knife I've bought for myself. I feel guilty, the stag handles tipped me to the dark side of Tru-Sharp! So far I have been a staunch CV man!

EDIT: The worked bolsters are what _really_ caught my eye while cruising amazon for a stag-handled peanut. I would shell out another Benjamin for a stag-handled Peanut with CV blades and worked bolsters. Check that, I think I need a DAMASCUS bladed 'Nut with the stag handles and worked bolsters. Add some file work on the spine and I will be in Heaven! Thanks Case XX, you are the best!

Captain O, Case's Tru-Sharp stainless is well known to be 420HC steel, the same that both Buck and S&M use for their standard blades. Case's does seem to be just a little softer than the other two, with Buck's heat-treatment acknowledged as the best.

And for the peanut content, my Steel Warrior in ram's horn.

You'll always be glad you did. (I thank Tom Veff for introducing me to the wax!) As a superb "edge-ologist", (his term, not mine) He knows what preseves metal better than most.

Thank you, sir. That's a beautiful Steel Warrior Peanut!

Let me get this straight:

a) Case's SS is 420HC, and

b) Case's CV is 1095 High Carbon Steel with added Chrome and Vanadium.

Life is good.

Nice knives Blake the Blade!

Kudos to Will for the generousity. The Peanut will serve you well, as will the Case pen-knife. Keep them sharp and they will surprise you at how much they can handle.

Count me in! I know one of these aint a peanut but they came as a pair thanks to the generosity of Will-Power.

Although the pen is not a peanut, I've always felt that the small two blade pen's that are peanut size, are a kind of cousin. They fill the same niche in the discreet little knife that is more capable than one would think. Sometimes the family will have a cousin from the 'other' side of the tracks, but still family. Small jacks and pens do the same job, ergo they must be sort of in the same class. Like a peanut and a Buck 309 companion fill the same role. Even if one is the red headed cousin!:D

That little pen is a great knife, and I predict it will do well by you.

I think I should put in for Cult Membership:D:D

Although I generally prefer single-spring Penknives I've given the Peanut much attention. Now, I've given three away, 2 CASES and a Queen oldie but I've resolved to keep these two. Obviously I like them both but I like their differences too: the CASE Crandall has very nice thick bone slabs, important on a smaller knife, the Greenbone looks the part too I'd say. The Crandall version has half-stops whereas the Rough Rider does not (I prefer this) The RR has sunk-joints a most impressive feature on a small inexpensive knife, its blades are thinner so a regular scalpel and has match-strike pulls, the bone slabs are thinner but compensate by being very grippy due to the Gunstock chequer finish. These are here to stay.

Thanks, Will

Nice pair Will. Good to know I haven't left you completely devoid of peanuts and that you remain a cult member.

so here I be awaiting my CV3220, getting my fix on by reading 'nut posts, multitasking, lunch another soda pop- and it comes to my realization that I just clicked "buy" on a second 'nut in CV RedBone. From the same seller at a different site! I guess having purposeful tunnel vision, tasteful wants, being oblivious to other stuff, as well as easily being lead down the righteous path of minimalism may be a sign that my indoctrination(nee, assimilation) is looming? I'm even contemplating selling off a boot box full of knives. What have I gotten in to? It's even come to mind that I'm in the wrong place to ask for help :p and giddily I don't care.

Hee-heeee! Another one bites the dust!

I can see that you were not properly briefed by the Cult on ownership of peanut. Peanuts are a lot like their roasted and salted legume namesakes; you can't eat just one. Peanut ownership is a very habit forming thing that only a very strong person can over come. Part of their habit forming nature is the beguiling appearance of them. They are a cute little thing, and you just want to touch them, and caress them.

The second part of their addictive nature is how effective they are. You will be constantly amazed at how well the little legume slices through stuff. Have to open a UPS/FEDEX box? The peanut will cut right through the tape and cardboard. Open mail? The thin edge will whisper through the envelope flap. Rope? It's toast. SAnd it will cut all with an impeccable style and panache.

Once you go peanut, just give you're credit card number to the knife vendor of choice and have him send uyou a new one at random every month. You will be buying a new one often anyways, may as well make it an automatic sale.
:D
