ok, just ordered a Rough Rider 858, (with imitation tortoise shell handles) that has a closed length of 2 point 5 inches, and has 2 blades that open from same end. Rough Rider calls it a "small trapper" but it looks more like a Barlow, to me.
Does this knife count as a peanut, based on its size?
The Cult Masters have spoken:
Knives less than 3 closed, count as honorary peanuts.
I am sure this will be unpopular but here goes. As much as i like my peanuts they can be a bit fiddley to open if your fingers have the arthritis in them, which brings me to GECs two peanut like offerings the Magnum and the Pemberton ( i exclude the Esquire as it is a sleeveboard ) i find them easier to open and close, with the blades being a tad larger although they all have half stops which i personally do not care for , (this is where the RR peanut wins out for me). Now i come to the bit that none of us traditional fans will like, but the simple fact is that for ease of opening and generally sharpness out of the box it is hard to beat the smaller offerings from Spyderco gulp shock horror !!! In the colder weather when my hands stiffen up i carry a Manbug and enjoy the heck out of it, although it can not compare in looks or feel to my "trads" it allows me to carry and use a small knife when i can not open and close a small traditional easily . So in the words of The Cult Master as it is less than 3" closed i claim honorary peanut status for my Manbug. I offer some pictures for comparison.

Old man, we will have to get back to you on that. At the present time, we are very busy with the RONCO defibrillator dealing with some multiple cardiac issues your post caused in the innermost inner sanctum of The Cult. The appearance of a Spyderco product did not go over well.
Carl, Grand High Muckba (retired).
I am still trying to regain my eyesight after seeing that... thing.... along with the Peanuts!
Gary - do we still do public hangings?
