Cult of the Texas Jack; why should the peaNUTS get all the glory

...It really is like a medium stockman, but with only two blades...
Yes, one of the many patterns that Case calls "Medium Stockman" is on the exact same frame as the Small Texas Jack, with the only difference being number of blades and which end the pen blade is on.

One of my all time favorite Case knives in both configurations.

why yes!! yes you can! Welcome aboard!!

I succumbed to peer pressure.

It is bigger than I thought it would be. I guess I had it in my head that it was the size of the small stockman. It really is like a medium stockman, but with only two blades. More comfortable in the hand without the sheepsfoot sitting up high, I'll give it a try.

and we are proud to have you :D

I have and enjoy the newer model Texas Jack in amber bone---great knife. Today, an older model (1980s I believe) arrived, purchased in a smooth and friendly transaction from fellow member B Hess (Brian). It's a heftier knife than the current version, with thicker scales and bolsters, a little more weight, and slightly longer blades. Though it lacks the great semi-wharnie secondary of the current version, it has a very stout pen (and an nice EZ open cutout for it).

I gave it a spa treatment this afternoon---wash, polish, oil, etc.--- and I am very pleased with it.

Old Man Running,

OK that pic did it...! I'm gonna have to get one of these! That's BEAUTIFUL!!! I hope my amber bone is as nice as that - WOW! My large Stockman has fantastic amber bone, so a TJ to match is would be great.

What is the one in the bottom middle on the leather pouch? Looks like a Schrade 233 but bigger.

I love that case texas jack towards the back right with the moss green bone and threaded bolsters. I have been looking for one of those for a few years now.

is that amber bone or an older stag handled jack?
if its amber bone  wow thats mellowing nicely

if is a stag handled one, COOL!!!

I love my STJ. That and the 032 stockman are my go to traditional EDCs.

The amber bone was a little light for my taste, so I followed some directions on the forums and stained it with tea and coffee. Turned out great......and now with a nice patina........WOW. Id post some pics, but not exactly sure how to do that on here.

Wish Case offered them in more scale options. Though, its probably best for my budget that they don't.

I'd pay a pretty penny for a well stained chestnut bone CV STJ.

Good eye mate, it is in fact an old 233, red bone from the 50s I believe. Probably not a true texas jack, but I imagine they are distantly related.

Regarding the olive green case, it is truly a great example of what case can do. Bar the 70s case knives and the bose examples that one has the best fit and finish out of my lot.

God bless mate,
Matt
