Cult of the Texas Jack; why should the peaNUTS get all the glory

Just picked this 3 dot up recently

And my grandpa's old 330T.

Daddyo that's a beauty!

My own 6232 - is it the grandfather of today's 62032 TJ? - that I'm immensely proud of (an amazing gift from Paul Hilborn)... a 1965-69 Case XX

What a gift! I love the color in that bone!
Good on you Paul!! :cool::cool::cool:

I suppose I should bump this back up since Ryan has sobered up enough to start posting again. :)

The Case Small Texas Jack was one of my first three Case knives. Here's one of my earliest pics of it:

I liked it so much, I later got a second one. I believe this is the only knife I currently have two of the same knife. The below is not the same knife as the one depicted above. This one is the one I allowed a patina to form on.

That's right, I'm a Two-Jacker. Also, that's not the same tree. The first one is in my back yard, the other one is in the front yard.

You two-treed Two-Jacker, you.

The small Texas Jack is one of the few patterns I recommend out-of-hand (out-of-pocket?) to anyone who asks for "a pocket knife." The size, form and blade shapes tick all the right boxes for most use, no 'splaining (or fingernail ministrations) needed. Fine, fine pattern.

All the testimonials have me almost persuaded to put the Texas jack on my wish list.
What's holding me back are the square bolsters. Anyone have something very similar to recommend, but with rounded bolsters? Thanks.

I love the Texas jacks but I have been confused by Case's designations. I have a "small" Texas jack in Amber bone but I have 3 "medium" jacks by Case that have rounded bolsters and they are smaller. Are the "medium" jacks not Texas jacks? I have a peanut but it just doesn't measure up to my small and medium jacks so count me in...they are my all time favorites!

Chris

To add to the confusion, I, too, have a Case medium jack with rounded bolsters, a 22087 SS. At 3 1/4 inches long, it is smaller than a "Texas" jack, but the box it came in says "Item No 00220 Texas Jack."

So is a medium jack a Texas Jack? I'm confused. Maybe my box is a misprint, making it a collector's item?

Maybe I'll just give up being a Texan and join the peanut cult.

Case's pattern naming is inconsistent. Their web site shows all of the '087 2-blade jacks as "Medium Jack". They are only making the 62032 squared-bolster jack in Amber Bone CV currently, and calling it the Small Texas Jack. However, it has recently been made in several other handle materials and called the Medium Jack as well.

I have seen a number of vendors who list the 22087 as a Texas Jack, so if that's what is printed on the box it wouldn't surprise me.

The real "Texas Jack" with no other size modifiers is the larger sized 6292 pattern, which was discontinued some time ago (sadly).

The texas jack is my all time favorite case pattern.

Heres my family :)

Peanut sneak :D

for me, rounded bolsters seem to make a knife more aerodynamic, ie slips out of pockets easier. Now this aint scientific or nuthin, just my experience. Visually i prefer the rounded bolsters but in real use i seem to prefer the square bolstered knife.

I once had a Texas Jack. My Peanut beat it up, kicked it out of my pocket, and then sold it on this forum.

:p

Egads! Another Cad
we have an infestation gentleman, get out the bug spray, we have a cockaroach problem ;)

We except the slightly smaller medium jack in our cult, we are pretty inclusive, unlike those anti-larger-than average peaNUT fans :p
