I thought you weren’t putting epoxy on the Cummings knives, only flared tones.

So this came in...

and I have to say I like the solid pins much better than the hollow ones. The edges are also very comfortable now.

As someone else mentioned, this newer iteration does have thicker scales compared to the first Trailmasters that came out... to the extent that the included sheath is a tight fit for the new knives and needs more "break-in". I measured the circumference of both for comparison and got:
  • Right in front of the second pin: 2 1/2" vs. 2 5/8" = 1/8" increase on the new ones
  • Right in front of the lanyard hole: 2 9/16" vs 2 3/4" = 3/16" increase on the new ones

Just popping in to say that although I see some advantage to the solid pins, I’m happier to have my skinnier handles and hollow pins on the TM and Utilities, for now at least. :) After all, I might need to use the hollow ones to make a spear one day. :D

I did some filing and sanding on my Trailmaster version 1 handle. You can see how it looked as purchased in a previous post I did where I compared version one and version two. This feels a lot better. I did however polish the handle which made it a bit slick to handle. I would not recommend that since these come unpolished.
