I just received my softened corner Trailmaster from Olde Towne Cutlery. It’s very similar to the work I did on my Utility (shown in a previous post).
First thoughts? Wow! That blade!! Almost made me forget to look at the softer corners. Oh man, I’m going to really like using this one. I wasn’t sure if the size would be right for me, but all doubts have been thoroughly laid to rest. Thoroughly. The size of blade and handle is just right.
I’ll have more to say once I mess around with it a bit more....

Side note pertinux pertinux — I noticed some new colors on Olde Towne Cutlery’s website. The Utility is available in blue G10 now. :)

Thanks for the heads up! I was able to snag a couple goodies. One for me and one for a friend. :thumbsup:

Those red G10 ones are good looking!

Great! I think you can’t go wrong with one of these. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to use it over the weekend.

The red G10 caught my eye right away. If I hadn’t already ordered the Python micarta, I would have been snagging a red one for sure!

Okay, you made me look. Fortunately(?), it's in that icky blue/black stripey-layered bark-rivery looking stuff.

That's the role I want it for. All of the HBs I've had were older ones with handles that more round than other models. The TM handle contours look more adept to blade control for my uses.
 
The following is a comparison of version 1 (black/brown) and version 2 (python) Trailmaster. I hope the pictures come through ok. All in all, version two feels much better Fiddleback Fiddleback VANCE VANCE

In this photo you can see that the scales were left thicker at the spine and belly on version 2 (python). I anticipate this was done to get those rounded edges we wanted. I did not check overall thickness (should have) but from sight, it appears the same.

Here I noticed that the scales are slightly longer. Could be a knife to knife thing but I like how version 2 (python) has a slightly longer handle. (don't be confused with blade length. That is the same. I must of had V2 knife slightly forward of V1 in the picture). I like how it lays out at the guard and grind termination.

You can see the thicker scale at the spine and belly again on version 2 (python). If the edges were rounded on version 1 (black/brown), I feel it would finish out too close the steel and I feel the grip would be too small.

Thank you Andy Fiddleback Fiddleback and VANCE VANCE for hearing us out and providing an improved version of the Trailmaster. I would like to see some comparisons of the other models if any of you have that info.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that sharp pommel is not more. you can see in the last photo a more rounded end. Much more comfortable.
