I figure they'll be the $230 shown, plus options. Has anyone heard anything about 5.1 seconds? Those will be slightly less of course

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure Guy or Ellie said that there won't be many factory 2nds because the new process and new finish are really dialed in now. They're sticklers about perfection so maybe we'll get lucky and score some knives with invisible imperfections!

That's my understanding as well. With the new machinery and processes under control, there should be far fewer 2nds than before.

Two updates ago

GSO-5: Existing GSO-5 orders are shipping out now! With exception of black canvas and burgundy linen, these orders are mostly shipped. Once all orders have shipped we will do a final QC and inventory, then get any leftovers listed for sale.
Necker II: Sheaths are being pressed
GSO-5.1: CPM-3V blades are in our workshop and CPM-20CV are at heat treat
GSO-4.7: At production grinding
GSO-2.7: Blades are being cut from sheets of steel
Once models start production they will no longer be available for preorder. Production will begin on the remaining models in the following order:

GSO-4.1: Scheduled to start production in October.
GSO-7/7
GSO-3.5
GSO-12


Previous updates

Necker II: These sold out a bit sooner than we expected. There may be a few more in stock in a few weeks, after orders have been fulfilled.
GSO-5.1: The blades are in our workshop. We are starting to see handles for these, preorders will start shipping soon.

I totally see it now. You're like the SURVIVE! historian :D

Usually there are a few more details or at least a little something new in the Friday newsletter. I guess we'll see soon enough!
 
Here is what will be happening this month:
GSO-5, Necker II, and GSO-5.1 knives are getting sharpened and built.
The GSO-5.1 will be in stock after we have fulfilled preorders.
The GSO-4.7 batch is at heat treating.
GSO-2.7 blades have moved to production grinding.
There were a lot of GSO-4.1 orders placed in the last few days of the preordering being open.* We need more steel for this run and will start cutting blades as soon as those extra sheets arrive.
More production news:
We are keeping an eye on order numbers for the GSO-7/7, GSO-3.5, and GSO-12 and will get extra steel for those production runs, as needed.
There is currently a tie between the GSO-6 and GSO-4.5 Bushcraft for which model will be added to the production line-up next.* The GSO-8 and GSO-10 can still catch up though.* The models with the most orders will get priority!

Whoa! I missed this last part in the email. I thought they were just doing a percentage of overs for stock to sell. They're not messing around!
 
I have to admit, despite being a huge Survive knife and company Fan, I only dipped my toe in the pre-order waters (a 3.5). That wasn't because of wait times or concerns that my money wouldn't result in a knife but because I am very picky and wanted to see what people thought of the changes before jumping in whole hog...that all said...I keep looking at the new 5.1's and all I can think is how crazy good they look! So clean and purposeful... crazy...anyway, Odds are I'm gonna be In much deeper before it is all said and done, but I really can not wait until people get the first batches of 5.1's so I can lust over all the reviews which will likely be glowing...

Rant over...had to say something!!!

**edit: I had to click back and zoom in, one more confession I am a bit of a star wars fan as well, and I imagine if the fake future wasn't full of lasers and plasma weapons, that they would carry the new GSO 5.1....

I imagine starting any business is hard, especially one in a relatively niche market. No matter what the future holds, you guys should be extremely proud of the product you have been able to provide to the knife community. I think everyone here agrees, and it is 99% of the reason we are all here on this sub forum posting new thoughts and experiences daily. I think when the 5.1's start to ship you should imagine our little community here giving you guys an standing ovation.

Well, hrrmmmm. ... see that's the thing, although certain aspects of their technology is far beyond ours, it's actually the past. That whole "a long time ago" bit and all.
