Custom SAK modder - HAIII Alox and Ti conversions - Pic Heavy examples

Here's another new configuration I finished lately. It's an old cross electric blue super electrician!

This new run of blue HAIII I had done is a shade darker than my last batch, and I think it looks pretty sweet.

I've been working with alot of blue scales lately and this shade is becoming my new favorite scale color. :D

Here are my two latest ones, farmer with scissors, and rancher with scissors.

Here is the last blue for a bit, then back to some other colors and projects. This is a Cadet II (blade instead of nail file) with scissors.

Oh and in case anyone is curious. This is what my modded 84mm scissors look like. The 84mm size is long discontinued, so I cut down 91mm scissors and relocate the pivot hole to fit on the smaller cadet size. The spring I hack from an old 91mm spring before the hook was added.

Top of each pic are my modified parts, bottom is stock 84mm parts.

Have you every modded an Alox to take the tweezer/toothpick...?

It wouldn't be a problem, but I really need a mill to make the slot nicely. I tried by hand with a drill and file and was never happy with the result. I've got a millling machine on my shop tool list for the new year though, so expect to see an alox scale with a T&T slots eventually.

Didn't know where to post this so hope it's okay here, just so's you know, the mods do bring extra strength as well, I've twisted a few too many cadets to not notice that this modded one is tough, case and point I got stuck during a move this week, a piece of furniture needed to be taken apart to get down the stairs and I had foolishly ended up with just my sak in my pocket and all other tools packed away at the new house, without much expectation I tried the cadet (brass liners, washers etc from bob) and it pulled no less then 18 screws (drilled in by a powertool) out of some heavy oak wood and just smiled at me, I smiled back for the rest of the day to

Hey, thats great to hear! I've thought about stress testing the steel pivot SAK against standard brass rivet to see how they fail and with how much torque, but I havent had the heart to destroy them for a test. Maybe If I have some damaged scales I could use those in a test, but I am really curious to see how much extra force they could take.

Glad you're cadet is serving you well!

Cheers

thanks again,

cheers and merry Christmas
