Custom Traditional Knives

We should rename this the "humble pie" thread...for every time you start to think your collection is pretty swell :)

With the vast amount of great makers, patterns, blade shapes, handle materials, etc, there's always going to be the "next knife" you're after.

Don't forget, you have a couple great ones Joe!

Just got this in,

Ken Erickson Barlow with old Schrade sawcut Bone. 3 1/8" closed.

One of Larry Fuegens first Gargoile friction folders. It's been with me for many years. I very much appreciate Larry as a great maker and fine person.

Dang, just a couple!?!? Tough crowd! (j/k brother!)

I'm feeling the one I'm waiting on will be a stunner. It's the first time that "Grail" word has crossed my mind in a few years. It'll be leaving a certain Floridian's shop before that pesky ivory law/order goes into effect. Stay tuned...

Thanks Tim! The sowbelly needed to trade places with a knife that I'd use...and this one shall see plenty. The size is perfect, the thin pointy blade is extremely useful, the color is awesome and it's simple, utilitarian look is what I loved about it since you first got it. It was only meant to be!!

Very nice kent67! I really like Don's clip point blades and those are wonderful looking knives.

Latest two Davisons to join the ranks. 3-5/8" Coke bottle and 3-3/4" Jack.

This Baby Rounder that Jerry built for me last year is a teeny bit bigger than my first one..3 1/8" closed. Weighs one ounce, CF without liners.

That's a cool little knife Jerry. I like the shield choice...one of my favorites!

I really like that one Wolfe. Larry did a nice interpretation on Jim Schmidt's goblin knives. Larry carves steel so well. Thanks for sharing.

That is a beauty ISK, congrats.

ABS Master Smith Jon Christensen trapper, W2 with hamon. Jon won't be at Blade this year, preparing for his daughters wedding! Just got off the phone with Jon, he has a trapper on his bench in pearl and damascus that is just for me, and I get to pick the damascus pattern, Jon's damascus is top shelf goodness.

ISK, I love the look of that one! The etched blade fits perfect with the look of that stag.

Kris, like always man, I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of your new addition when you get it.

This is the most recent arrival for me. 3-5/8" "Front Pocket" trapper by Bret Dowell. He was able to get a hold of some old Westinghouse micarta and finished it in a way that left the older exposed layer and revealed new layers underneath. It'll be cool to watch it all change over time.

That is a beauty Jake, I am not much for synthetic handle materials, but old Westinghouse has a nice look and ages even better. I had Jared Oeser make me a Lanny's Clip once in lightning strike with blue and orange liners, very nice knife but I then learned that synthetics on traditionals are not for me(although i have a few from Rick, something about that orange and green:cool:).

This is the only custom I own that was made just for me. It's a John Lloyd shadow Dogleg Jack with 1950s canvas micarta covers, in CPM 154 steel, with mill-relieved liners and a half-stop.

It's my buddy -- it cuts whatever needs cutting, bounces around with my keys, and takes it all with aplomb. I love it.
