Custom Traditional Knives

Any maker that you're on the specific lookout for?? Might be easier to figure out who you want to go with and contact them. That way you can get them to hopefully make a knife exactly to your specifications.

I just sent an email to Mr Davison [emoji41]

You can't go wrong there Jeff!!! I can't wait to see what you decided to have him make

Don't think I've posted this one in this thread yet.

Here are a few that I've had at various times but don't have in my possession any longer. Great knives all! Currently the only custom knife I own is the stag Erickson above.

My first Ken Erickson EDC patter in CPM154CM and yellow micarta. Loved it so much when the stag one became available I just had to snag it!

Dr. T Zulu Spear. Micarta scales obviously, don't remember the other details but a nice knife!

My Bose 4" backpocket. Waited many many years for this but once I had it I decided it was just a little too big for my daily carry and I decided to pass it on as I couldn't justify keeping something so nice but not using it.

Great Dowell swayback with micarta scales. Really like this knife, regret letting it go a little.

Bose 3.5" shadow trapper in black micarta and D2. It's been a decade since I had this one I think but I still miss it, love these little Bose shadow patterns!

Shadley coke bottle that I saw pop up recently. I think it's ATS34

Ruple stockman, only 3-blade custom I've ever owned and a really nice knife!

Finally this little single blade Tomes. Something about this one I loved and I'm sad I couldn't find a picture with it open. Love the jigged bone on it.

Is that you Chris?

Indeed the Shadley did pop up recently. It is currently in my possession and it's matching brother came down to stay as well.
Some really beautiful knives you've had over time. Those Bose knives, that Dowell, Ruple are all stunners.

The Coke bottle found a twin today in it's stag brother.
14K gold pins and shield, ATS-34.

I'm a long time lurker - these are real beauties, guys.
I just placed an order for a trapper with Al Warren. I should see the knife come April. I will resurrect this thread come that time to show it off. Keep them coming, this is a great thread.

Cattle knife by Ryuichi Kawamura 3 5/8"

pfsozKw.jpg

I got an my first Oeser recently and it was clearly in another league than all previous customs I've had, I said to myself, "this is as good as it gets!" But when this Kawamura arrived I ate those words as it is up again at least one echelon.

Nice! I had a feeling it was Ryu but wasn't sure! And a cattle knife no less, I'm super jealous! Been wanting a cattle knife for a while!

That Kawamura Cattle Knife is superb. My future dream knife is to have a nice 3 blade stockman made by someone. Not sure who I want to approach yet as I'm not ready to make a decision yet. Plus I keep buying other knives haha.

Thanks for the compliments on my Davisons everyone. Here's a good pic showing the mammoth better:

Thats a real beauty, Jake. Something about Todds subtle design sense and clean execution was what helped me jump into buying customs. I was lucky enough to pick up these two, and one of these days I hope to have him make me one to order.

I love todds work. Here's an old family pic (I suck at pics). The orange g10 and mammoth he made custom for me. The ebony I picked up from him here. I have since added a double blade (second photo) that was custom made for the original owner I got it from. This year, I intend to add an elephant ivory of some sort, maybe a sway back (not my favorite to use but beautiful to look at) and another double blade with a smaller sway back style second blade and a bit thinner than my current one. Thinking ironwood burl for it, but as I intend to carry it, I'm a little torn on that one. It will have nail nicks on opposite sides so the blades can sit deep.

I need to get a good family photo of them.

Tozaki, Mason & Erickson...

Some Black Palm I'd been hoarding for years put to good use...

I think that's the first Tozaki I've seen posted here on BF. How do you like it?! It looks fantastic! I love the way he stays true to the Tony Bose style with excellent hand rubbed blade finish and top notch jigged bone.

I'd never heard of TOzaki before but that trapper immediately caught my eye. Good stuff everyone!

I recently realized I've been carrying this Erickson damn near every day for the last three years. I have spent more money checking this knife at the airport than I did to buy it in the first place! (Seen here with me hanging out at my sisters house on the left coast). Every time I try to pocket something else it just doesn't feel right - I dream of other knives - but would I carry them? I don't know

I've consolidated my collection to all customs but one. Here is the latest addition:

That shield is super hot... Love it.

I just dropped this one off at the post office.... To have Dr. T re-sharpen it. I think I'm going to sell one of the TC Barlows I got this week to free up some cash and keep the Lanny's for a while longer.

Nice to hear the Dr. T is staying around a bit longer Sean, definitely a variation on the Lanny Clip that I hadn't seen yet with doublebolsters.

Beautiful Erickson, has earned it's stripes and then some. Glad to hear it going through the airport has been just fine without any hiccups.

Some more photos of the Coke bottle
