CUSTOM WSK's????

Thanks for the compliments! I really appreciate it. I think the WSK is a great knife style and a pretty diffucult one to make right. The heat treat is important and the angle between the handle and blade is crutial. I aslo added a lanyard hole at the top of the handle. I was told of a horrific accident with Mr. Osborne at a cutting compitition where he lost his grip and with the lower lanyard the knife extended out from his hand and ended up in his other forearm. So by using a lanyard more proximal to the blade you keep control of the knife and its placement relative to your hand. Sorry, advertising is not allowed on this forum. So is the blade on this picture blued? It appears to have a blued effect. Loving the pics...great looking work as usual. I think the addition of the lanyard was a good idea, and I haven't seen another WSK with this feature up till now.

The Blade was "blackend." Its a little different than a blueing. I use a product called Percision tool black. I think it works well and has a nice effect. It has some good color variations which i think look great. I would love to answer your question of how much im charging but it was deemed as "advertising." So email me for a quote. t.horan@sbcglobal.net

From the pictures it looks like the saw teeth on the "German" WSK only saws in one direction though, right?

@moosemaster,
here a picture of the saw :
yes correct - only one direction, but sharp like hell :-))

@shwanrprice,
the total length is 23cm and the blade length will be 12cm(4,7inch)
i made also a little longer version with a 5inch blade - that will be better.

i have a type of wsk that is being being built with alot of stuff in mind . modified coming soon .the maker and me are in the design stages and getting it drawn out. also the wsk will have some HIDDEN secrets .;)

it will definately be a different functional and look. not to different from the copies around but it will have some different things . pics to come after knife is finished. i cannot wait.

wow. i guess i'm going to have to sell drugs or something and make a lot more money than i have now for sweet things like this :>

Schanz's knives are terrific, I own two complete sets (w/ companion knives), a brown and black set. He's also great to deal with. I'm also working with Moosemaster on one with a satin finish and white micarta handles. I love this design and Dave Beck started it all. I owned one set (w/companion knife) of his until two years ago when it sold on ebay for $2,500. The new knives are more artistic and have more complex grinds, but the Beck is the original.:D
