CUSTOM WSK's????

I made this our of o-1 tool steel for a primitive skills teacher in Maine. Its 1/4 thick and i used refractory cement for a differential heattreat. It has stainless corbies on the handle and black green linen micarta and its all blasted for a matte finish. It is also chissel ground like Jensen did. I think i will take orders on these as well. It was a nice knife and i think it needs to be made.

Nice knives! I never liked this design untill recently. It is amazing what a couple of pictures will do to a knife nut. I especialy like the smaller thiner one.

I was refering to this one:

Thanks! I am working on a companion today. Might even get some pics up.

i forgot to ask... do you or are you planning on making some with non chisel grinds? perhaps a full convex?

perhaps also something with a bit more sweet spot for chopping - a bit less "draw knife" area perhaps, more up front curve. mmmMMMmmm. convex edge strong for chopping, perhaps a hollow grind for the draw knife area... that avoid making left/right chisel grind variants :) though i'm sure most of those would be righties anyway ;)

I do the chisel grind only on that Jensen style evo, because my customer wanted that. I can do pretty much however you want it. Do you have a scetch of your knife with its sweet spot?

Here is a close up of the handle detail. What do you guys think? I made more contours in it than Jensen did. Especially around the first finger and middle finger. It's very comfortable. More work, but worth it.

Thanks for the compliments! My goal is to be a full time maker. Hopefully get rid of one of the 3 Jobs and concentrate on Knives. I had to send pics in to the director of a knife show to see if my knives are nice enough for the show. I sent in pics of a few different wsk and the jensen style wsk along with a few smaller cord wrapped knives. I hope i can get a booth at the show.

Moosemaster, very nice work. I never handled a WSK, do they chop as well as they look? Seriously considering getting one.

Moosemaster, I really like your Jensen-style WSK. Wow, that's sharp (pun intended)! Which knife show are you referring to? Do you/will you/might you attend any shows in the Midwest this year?

Yeah, I'm trying to get a spot in the Chicago custom knife show. I have sent a few emails and called the director. Hopefully he lets me get a booth. I will have a dozen or so knives there of all different types including a few WSK style.

The WSK all chop well, theres a few key aspects you need for a good "chopper." The angle between the handle and the blade is crucial. I cant stress this enough. Mr. Dave Beck spent alot of time getting that angle correct to insure maximum chopping, while not hindering its knife function. Both the Jenson EVO style and the Beck Style WSK have great chopping power. The Jesnen EVO style is very comfortable when its in the rearmost grip. I spent a long time making sure it wouldn't "bite" your hand at all over strenuous use. I cant thank everyone enough, especially those who have chosen to order one of my knives. Its really making my decision to make knives more as a job than a hobby easier. Thank You.
