Cutco Hunting Knife

I own one Cutco knife. ONE! I will never own another. Or, at least, I will never buy another.

Everyone talks about how great their kitchen knives are. If my knife is any measurement of their quality, Cutco knives are lacking.

I have the DD serrated hunting knife and have to say it's the first knife pulled out of my pack when game is down.
So far it has cut up three Elk(completely deboned)ready to pack out of the backcountry and it's still scary sharp.
I also carry a custom made knife so I'm not biased in any way I just use what works best for me.
I'm not crazy about the handle because I like natural materials but the blade works so darn well.

We are all biased by our experience. That's the human condition.

This forum represents millennia of combined experience that concludes that Cutco is just OK and is over-priced for what you get.

Try some other brands of serrated knives and let us know about your experience.

I am not a big booster of serrated knives (except for cutting rope). We didn't use them in the slaughter house where I worked. Maybe we should have.

Now this thread, which has been resurrected three times and just will not die, has me believing in the Zombie Apocalypse.

I truly love forums such as this because there is such difference of opinion! Most of you who slammed the Cutco Rep (perhaps deservedly) have still never used a Cutco skinning knife. I gotta tell you from personal experience...the knife is freakin' amazing. It cuts through meat and hide like it's butter. I have used it to split pelvises and ribs. Not a problem. I have the d serration model and, wholly s--t! Never seems to need sharpening. If anything, the hard use I have put it through has IMPROVED the edge! If you haven't used the knife, don't bad mouth it 'cause it's awesome. By the way, the d serration is not user sharpenable but Cutco will resharpen for free...if you ever need it. Also, No fault guarantee can't be beat. I own three of their knives - a skinner in drop point and one in clip point, and I have a fillet knife. All are awesome.

I'd argue that it's very possible to sharpen their serration pattern at home. Also there is ZERO way that using the knife has improved the edge.

Also, why won't this thread die?

I love how Cutco threads always have the first posters who claim Cutco is the greatest thing since stainless steel.

Really, do you Cucto reps just have a net of fellow shillers who prowl the net looking for Cutco references?

Nobody buys the act, chief.

Because Cutco reps keep joining to give us "unsolicited testimonials" about how great the knives they sell are?

It was rhetorical, but yeah--that'd be why. :D :D :D

Give me an "S"!
Give me a "P"!
Give me an "A"!
Give me a "M"!

What does it spell?

SPAM, SPAM, SPAM.

But by all means keep posting so this thread can move to the top of a Google search.

Ever notice it's always the one-post wonders singing unfailingly about the unmeasurable greatness that is everything cutco?

With their idiotically outlandish claims, they do their brand more damage than anything.

CUTCO CUTCO CUTCO ---- just for the search engines to more readily direct searchers to this thread.

I refused to buy one of the Cutco hunting knives with the DD serrations ate over $100 for something I could find no real hard use reviews online for. I just bought one on fleabay for $42 used so I will try it and go from there. I actually liked how the rubber handle fit my hand when I looked at one a dealer had. As for the DD serrations IF I do not like it then I will use a carbide sharpener to remove them and sharpen like a regular knife. The Cutco version of the Kabar is also made with 440A.... I think I prefer the D2 steel.
