Cutlery Proposals for the Bladeforums 2015 Knife

Love the knife, hate the handle material. Neither of those woods appeal to me. I prefer bolsters but those seem too long. Throws off the aesthetics.

I like the shadow version much better. The only other thing that might look good on that pattern would be tip bolsters.

Thank You for your effort Charlie! I'm goin with the shadow!!
Can't wait to see what the other 2 cutlers come up with!

Shadow looks better, to my old eyes.

Both are beautiful examples. The winning knife is sure to be a knockout.

Will the blades be carbon steel or stainless?

Thanks Charlie for taking the helm on this project.:thumbup: fwiw, I prefer the bolsters

Having seen examples of former BF knives (such as EO 85 and Stag 77) I'm looking forward to this year's selection.

A few quick questions for any member; How will this year's offering be determined? Will the Forum knives be available to anyone? What month should we be expecting their release? How are they distributed?

Thanks in advance for your help in answering these questions, RS

Questions:
1. Voted on by forum poll when we have the final candidates.

2. Any member can buy them. Just have to pay when you pre-order. There will be a thread with payment instructions when they are ready. You have to pay when you order, which may be 4-5 months before you get the knife. In the past you could order as many as you wanted to. In fact, some years it was hard to get the minimum number to make the order.

3. Release - meaning delivery, typically November/December.

4. They are mailed to you. This year, Barry Johnson (GunstockJack) will be handling the ordering and shipping since he is a knife dealer and already set up to do that.

CSC did a great job with their entry. Am liking that if a dark wood...then the shadow pattern. But either way....will be a looker.
Still...two other entries to go

and thank yo waynorth for all your efforts so far

Cool. Thanks for all the work you put in Charlie! Looking forward to seeing what they come up with

Charlie, Thank you so much for doing this for us. You are officially on my hero list.

I'd likely be happy with any of the CS variants.

I'm a big fan of the Shadow pattern, I too would opt for that one but can't wait to see what lies in store from GEC.

Charlie, like others, I'd just like to chime in to say thanks for taking this on again this year. I'm looking forward to seeing all the proposals and what the board ultimately decides. I really like both offerings from CSC, but prefer the shadow pattern. For that matter, I'd be intrigued to see an option without a shield this year. Thanks again.

What a cool & interesting process. Being a newbie here I'm really impressed with all the effort that is going into this, and also all the different design suggestions that have been chatted about on the 2 threads.
Personally I like the shadow pattern, and would love to see some killer exotic wood with deep marbled figure.

I'm just bringing this one over from the other th thread that Eric had posted showing a different shield with the sheepsfoot lowered & satin finished blades.

^^ That's the one I prefer out the different variants shown by CSC Jake...the one with the sheepsfoot nail nick on the backside. I think Charlie meant to post this one as he describes it in the first post...

All equally beautiful in there own way. Kind of leaning towards the shadow pattern though.

Beautiful knives. Thanks Charlie and Canal Street!

If I could change 2 things I would put the nail nick more forward on the clip blade, and the nick on the opposite side for the sheepfoot.

Can't wait to see the others!

Eric
