Cutlery Proposals for the Bladeforums 2015 Knife

I like the placement of the nail nick in Eric's photo. That's where the nail nick would be on old knives. I understand the reason for centering the nail nick (leverage) but it always looked goofy to me on modern "traditional" knives.

Bringing in a shot of the future Beerbelly again eh? I still like this pattern a lot.

I'd love for that Remington sowbelly pattern to be the forum knife... but with a sheepfoot blade, not a cap lifter. I think the beerbelly would be a fun pattern for Rough Rider. They already have a Beer Stockman.

Eric's knife has the same combination of blades on a slightly less curvy serpentine frame and I like it a lot. Whether or not it's the forum knife, I want one. Shadow pattern please! I'd also like CSC and GEC to make the more voluptuous sowbelly pattern like that Remington... with the nail nick in the traditional location! ;)

I love tip bolsters on a penknife, but this is actually quite a big knife

I know that this is a fairly large knife but it has the pen knife slimness and proportions. I thought the large bolsters completely spoiled the look but I suspect tip bolsters would suit it. It would also quell the fear of some (not me) that the wood would (not intended) not hold up in a shadow build. No photoshop guys here?

Ok, so I'm no Photoshop expert, and I just did this super quick on my iPad. Let's just say my finger tip is not the most precise instrument for the job, but this should at least give us an idea of how it would look with tip bolsters:

I like tip bolsters, but don't think they work with the large pivot pins. My only example looks good with the smaller pins.

I agree with Jeff. Tip bolsters don't look good with the large pivot pins.

I think I would like the regular bolsters better if they were grooved, but then I usually prefer fancy looking knives.

As it is, the shadow pattern is the winner of these two.

Many thanks for the effort SA Condor. I'll shut up about the tip bolsters now (hold the applause). They look even more hideous than the full sized bolsters LOL. Shadow it is for me!

I think this knife would be even better if it had a Turkish clip. That way, the nick would have more leverage, and there would be room to have the nick on the mark side of the sheepsfoot, while keeping it nice and low in the handle. I would also love to see this knife at around 3 5/8" instead of 4". Being so slim, but that long, seems strange to me for some reason. I know the size change would mean developing a new pattern, but I think the Turkish clip would be an easier task. I think that the Turkish clip in a serpentine pattern looks sooo sleek.

Reading this just cracked me up!!

I think I hear a heavenly choir singing as I read this.

I'm digging the shadow too. Not enough top notch knives like that anymore.

This talk of a Turkish clip...lignum vitae, or any of the ironwood family woods...my wallet is practically leaping out of my pocket! Down boy!

This sounds like perfection!

Well, doesn't CS offer a Muskrat pattern that has Turkish Clip? Transplant that.

wouldn't a turkish clip stand out a lot more from the frame, which goes against the sleek lines of the handle?

Actually the opposite is true, it would sink down into the frame and the sheepsfoot could be lowered even more.

I like the idea of the turkish clip and then leaving the pull on the secondary on the same side as the Turkish clip.
