I have no idea how I missed this thread - fantastic! Great to see that block of koa get put to such a perfect application. Execution on this one was just extraordinary. Makes me ache for a mill!!!!!!!

This one coming to deer camp too, Rog?

Great work, Mr. Wesner - truly inspirational!

The knife arrived safely in hand today, and all I can say is David did a terrific job. Fit and finish are super clean. The damascus shimmers as much as the Koa does, and the Koa is abolutely on fire. The handle feels great and the knife pretty much begs to be used. Must.... resist.

It's been a genuine pleasure to work with David on this piece. Now the tough decision - matching camp knife in a user-grade finish, or matching damascus bowie?

Anyway - here is the result of Coop's fine work:

I love this additional shot which really captures the lines of the piece:

Thanks to all for tuning in.

a humbling piece of work David. A truly exceptional piece of art and engineering.

Congratulations Roger on a fine addition to your collection.

Wow, congrats to both Roger and David. This was a super fun journey and a very happy ending!

Roger,

I was up to see Dave and Jo at the beginning of the month and had the pleasure of handling your knife. Dave carefully took it apart and laid it all out, piece by piece, on a terrycloth towel. Dave, who calls himself an "Apprentice Bladesmith", went over every little detail, item by item, ending with the Damascus T wrench that he was still tweaking up when I had arrived.

Dave's attention to detail in every aspect of his work is flawless. He leaves nothing undone and what is done is as close to perfect as the Almighty would allow a man. An investment in Dave's work is an investment in a man that we are going to see some pretty amazing things from in the future. I'm sure, now that you have the knife in hand, you will agree wholeheartedly. I'm also sure you've probably handled it every moment you've had the chance and put a big grin on from ear to ear when you did! I had a tough time putting it down. It does beg to be used. You are a fortunate man.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING work David! Really love this blade and thanks for the WIP. Roger is a lucky man.

Shawn

Thanks for checking out the thread Shawn. Thanks for the kind words regarding the finished blade too.
The WIP ?? , doing that was more fun than I could have ever imagined. There will be more in the near future :) ,
No bout a doubt it ;)

Just three words for this knife......

WOW, WOW, WOW (at the risk of repeating my self).

:D :D :D Thanks Big T

The precision work that was involoved in just these six parts is stupefying.

This will be a challenge to capture that motion picture that is going on in that koa handle. Only a live performance will really bring the chills. :)

Looking forward to this.

Coop

Coop, Thanks for taking a look through the WIP thread and for the kudos regarding my work :)

The work/pictures you did for me were amazing. Having the ability to compare the ones I took for this WIP thread, side by side with the pics you did .......... :o :o <<<<< The 2 little smilies to the left pretty much say it all ;)
The difference is like night and day :D

We'll be doing this Professional Picture gig again real soon  Thank you :)

Holy Smokes Matt .... when you consider all the fantastic work being posted here in the Custom & Handmade Knives Forum, it's not at all hard to see how a guy could miss a thread :)

Thanks for eventually finding your way here and posting  ;) And thank you for the kudos on the knife.
It was a LOT of fun to build !

I hear ya on the Mill brother. I can't even imagine how much longer it would have taken me to put something like this together without my Mill

I shudder at the thought   ;)

Thanks again Matt

Thank you Scott ;) I really appreciate you following along here

What do you think about the real pictures Eli ;) :D

Pretty darn slick hey ?? :D

No doubt about it, Coop knows his stuff  So many groups of craftsman have skill rating scales, the ABS has Journeyman and Mastersmith.
I think Jim Cooper should get an honorary MKP Stamp, Jim Cooper - Master Knife Photographer

When was the last time anyone has checked out Coops Website ? Now that my friends, is a serious body of work !!

My Friend !! Thank you so much for everything !! I couldn't have done it without ya ;)

After all, this is how it all began ..................

I think I can speak for all here when I say Thank you Aldo !!! The Custom Knifemakers who've been fortunate enough to use the steel you've worked so hard to supply us with, couldn't ask for a finer, more hard working gentleman to deal with. And the steel.... ?? Well, that speaks for itself ! ;)

Thank you for all of the compliments and support

In regards to your visits, the toughest part about you coming over, is having to watch you leave.
It's always much too soon.
Both Joanna and I enjoy every minute we get to spend with you.

In fact, I can't wait to see you again. Hopefully it won't be too long until you're able to return

Thanks Buddy :)

I appreciate everything you've done to help me find my way down this path ;)

The hours we spend on the phone together, talking about skills, techniques and everything in between ;) has become the highpoint of my work week, and something I very much look forward to.

Roger ............ from beginning to end, working with you on this project has been a real treat !!

I'm just tickled to finally know you're happy with the outcome ;)

I say "finally" because, as quick as Coop was in taking the pictures, that, along with waiting for the knife to clear customs and be delivered, seemed like it took forever ;)

Again, Thank you so much for everything :)

Freak'n AWESOME!!! :D

Hey Matt- You know you have to like, know how to turn the mill on and stuff, right??? :p

Stunning photo of a marvel of fitment. I can't get over how perfectly that collar in the butt mates to the Koa. Amazing.

I finally got some time to play with taking it apart and putting it back together. The precision fitment impresses even more in action than it does in photos - this thing locks up like a bank vault.
