So, now the "issue", main subject is the delay in delivery? Why change your tune now?! You went from bashing me over heat treatment, which isn't so much of an issue as putting a "Marty Gaston SA9 bevel" job on it, then trying to chop wood with it??!! Lol

Steve, you may want to research Gaston a little before you take one side or the other on this.
This is not the first time he has bashed a maker/knife because the knife didn't work the way he thought it should after heavy modifications. Refer to "The Hollow Handle Knife Thread" for some background.

I'm not an expert, but there is a lot of telling things that come out in his posts.
Pick one simple thing like: "24 degrees inclusive", then tie it to "survival knife" used for chopping tree limbs.

A Japanese chef's knife, which is used for cutting soft things (primarily vegetables, some meats, etc, never bone) is sharpened at between 20 and 30 degrees inclusive.
Who would expect that knife to handle chopping wood?
Who would complain that something failed after they heavily modified it?
Go to Chevy and tell them your 'Vette engine blew after you put a turbo kit on it and kicked up the HP by 75%, and you'd like it warrantied.
Prepare to go pee up a rope.

I don't know Gaston and I don't want to cast aspersions, but his posts that I have read do not paint a very good picture.

This says it best! Thanks!

I'll close with this, Marty....

You were told of our situation, mixup back when it all happened. If you had problems with it then you could have aired them out, although there wouldn't have been much we could do about it as it spent near 3 weeks total in the possession of USPS. Th tracking number was posted to the auction. If you did not know that it was how is that our fault? We monitor every package we send out because WE want to know when it gets to its destination. Some of our messages to you went unanswered just the same. You made zero mention of being upset about the delay. But now you have issues 8-9 months later?

We apologized to you then. You used the knife prior to altering it and it obviously did not have heat treatment issues then, or you would have started this bogus thread back then. By your posts in The Hollow Handle knife thread you admitted to using the knife and made no mention of serious issues other than things YOU would have done better had YOU made the knife. If you didn't like the knife you should have sent it back, not alter it. And you certainly should not have passed it off to someone else after you screwed with it! It's my name on that knife, not yours! If you change the geometry of the knife, something goes wrong with it it's not YOU they gets the blame, it's ME. Heavily altering custom knives like you are doing is just making the maker look bad because, in the nicest way possible, you have NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. These fantasy alterations you are doing is just insanely stupid! You are wrecking great knives by great makers whom have been in this business a very long time. I'm sure Narscism doesn't allow one to even think about taking responsibility, but if another apology for the shipping delay will satisfy you, since you stated the heat treatment is not the main topic here.

I am sorry you had to wait longer than you wanted for your knife, Mr. Gaston! We are sorry our family is more important than you. I should hope your family is more important to you than us, or my knives. That it how it should be! Tough time for us, but we made it through.

I am glad we got to the bottom of it. I agree that changing the title would be best. Although I know you won't.

Mr. Clifford, I have spent way to much time in the GBU.

My suggestion at this point would be for you to leave this thread alone and let it die.

I think if you read all the posts, you don't need a degree to realize that this "issue" is more one that the OP has all to himself.

I am sure you know, as does anyone who sells anything, that there are just some people that you will never make happy and they will always blame you for issues that started before they even met you. It's a part of life...

Feel free to read through how this went down. I'm sure you would be upset just the same. ??

^ +1 on that! :D Not too much longer, though!

Please take JR's advice, Rez Dawg, & just bow out. You've already presented an excellent argument/defense here.

Most importantly: I hope that the Misses, if fully healed from her breast cancer! :love_heart:

My post about Chinese and attitude was a pun made at a post Gaston made in another topic. This guy just upset me, actually.
I consider your attitude very honorable and you display much more patience than I'll ever have in my whole life :)

Good luck!

It wasn't, a compliment!

I think he was being facetious.

I'm assuming FMJ said that because Gaston made a very similarly ignorant and wide-sweeping statement in General.

I'm not too up to speed on search engines but I seemed to read the more keywords are mentioned the more it shows up in search engines or is that activity in genersl? If that's true best to let this things die

^ I totally misinterpreted your previous comment- I thought that you were taking a shot at RezDawg. Thank you for the clarification, & my sincere apology.

^ Thank you, also TT! I don't think that I was privy to that comment, and if I was, that part just didn't register as being important enough, for my comprehension skills to file away.

I heard about this issue and thought it only fare, since I own and have used 5 ACK Knives with 3 of them being All 3 versions of Andy's Sly II style!!

I have the #1...The very first ever, ACK Hollow Handle Sly II style knife. And I have owned that rugged badass knife now for about 6 years. And I am here to say that awesome knife has succeeded in every camping, cutting, skinning, batoning, chopping, and wood notching task I ever used it for!! Holds its edge like none other!!

Believe me...I love my knives and for me to even own a knife, let alone five, from a knifemaker, you can bet your bottom dollar that for me to own one, it Must Be A Real User Of A Knife!! And Andy's knives are the Best...Top Notch. I even got a 6th one being made even as I type this, by Andy Clifford!!

Therefore there's not a Soul on here that will make me believe that an Andrew Clifford Handmade knife is anything but Awesome!! I've said my piece!! 'NUFF SAID!!!

Nuff said. I think the brotherhood of the knife has this figured out by now. I am changing the title and closing the thread.
