Death Chat!!

daaaammmnn Huy... you've been busy man..

Ban- that s*#t look crazy too dude.. wow..

sounds like everyone had a great 4th.. ours was mellow.. we hit a small little parade here in the mtns. and then had a little BBQ here at our house.. Bommer and his girlfriend have been in town for the past week staying at our house.. it was a lot of fun seeing them..
one of the benefits of living here is that i don't have to sit in all of that 17 traffic, that crap has been rediculous.. we generally try not to go to Santa Cruz much during the summeer since it so crowded..:thumbdn:

Nice stuff Ban! I like the BT6 "Pineapple Express" and Bowie! Curious how wider pikal feels too.

The newer Pikal feels quite a bit wider. Will have to see what its like with thick handle slabs.

I would suggest making the index finger groove larger in the handle, guys with fat fingers would probably like that.

Interesting, I'm looking forward to the checking out that fatter handled pikal.

Stump: Congrats!!

Picked off my first ripe beefsteak tomato yesterday

And, some pics from Big Sur camping this past July 4th weekend. I really need to get myself a good camera for outdoor photography. Sunny pics are virtually impossible with the GF's P&S...parts of the image are always either over-exposed or under exposed.

Creek right next to our campsite.

This was one highlight of the trip. As we were driving along the coast after our hike on sunday, on the way to check out some beaches, I saw these dolphins playing in the waves as we drove along the cliffs. The pod was riding the waves, and then popping out the back of the waves as each petered out. It was an amazing and thoroughly entertaining spectacle to observe. They were quite a distance away, so most of my pics didn't turn out. Here's one catching a dolphin popping out the back of a little wave.

Btw, had my Ti Necker on the beaches again, love that it's so worry free!

tomatoes look delicious and big sur looks gorgeous! we saw dolphins doing the same this past weekend near santa cruz, gf was stoked since she loves them.

+1 on the Ti knife. Had my Ti lagriffe pikal in my board shorts the whole time. I was in the ocean for about 30-40 minutes, not a worry at all!

Getting bored of my utility knife I made a while back and most likely going to regrind it. What do you guys think of this? Essentially it's going to be slimmer all the way around with a deeper finger guard, and the little plunge on the spine. Also need to re-drill the holes and put on some different handles.

I don't think its worth the trouble unless you have a bunch of time on your hands. Don't you have a few others that you still need to finish?

Yeah, the dolphin thing was pretty awesome. We stopped and watched them for at least 20 min or so. I've seen dolphins in the water before, while diving, but never from that perspective (up on a cliff, you can really see how they move in and out of the water).

Wow, that's a good lookin utility knife! Love that blade shape. Redesign looks good to me, but out of curiosity, why are you dropping the spine? And what steel is it?

ETA: Was typing while Ban posted; you have others in the works? Let's see em :)

Steel is A2. The blade width is a little to wide for my taste, but the handles are just about right, so dropping the spine portion lower was one way to achieve the blade width I wanted without sacrificing too much handle width.

I was partly inspired to do this because of my Kershaw/RJ Martin's Chill.

Hahah yeah...I have 3 other unfinished knives I've been meaning to get around to. They're almost done, mainly need to apply the final satin finish, attach and contour the handles, and touch up the edge.

Hahah, I figured you would say this. This has been my user, but I was never 100% satisfied with it so I just wanted to do this to fill that. I'll start on this after I finish my other knives.

There you go. Finish your other knives first then to this one when you have the time.

Those M3s are nice. One of my favorite cars. Good luck car shopping.

So I arranged to meet with the guy at 6PM to check out the M3, but he sold it before that!! I should have jumped on it sooner!! :grumpy:
