December Buck of the Month - My Guess ** UPDATE: Released **

Funny, one year ago tomorrow Buck offered a 112 Limited Edition with Macassar Ebony handle inlays and a flat ground S35VN blade. They were supposed to be nickel silver but turned out to be brass. I wanted the nickel silver, but a fantastic knife regardless.:thumbsup:

This one is listed as African Ebony and appears to be significantly darker. I hope it is Gabon Ebony. I hope it is jet black. And I hope it really comes in nickel silver this time. The price is about $32 more, but I did not hesitate. Not one second.

Please... come as advertised... just like the picture.

Mirror polished S30V drop point and no pins..add finger grooves..Next time!

Really?? You've got to be kidding... After all the posts about wishing for an odd and rare BOTM 112, so you can add it to your collection, your passing because of pins and finger grooves??:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::eek::eek:

Not at all! This is a perfect example of a rare, odd 112..My point was a mirror polished drop point with finger grooves wouldbe perfect..The next time Buck does a 112. Oh I will be having one of these! I have searched the forum to see if Buck has EVER made a knife with "African" Ebony and can find no reference to it at all. Im hoping Mr Hubbard might check in on this. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression about this BOTM. Its a fantastic 112 with a lot going for including a great value. In fact I bet the resale price will be close to $200.00 if not more. If this is in fact the first and only Buck made with this wood it will only make it more desirable and valuable..

112

I'm lost...
Earlier conversation that the DEC Buck of the Month could sell out before the NOV Buck of the Month even though the DEC has 100 more to sell. It looks like the lower price point on the DEC knife is helping move them fast.

I had to look, but my 112 flat ground S35VN has the nickel frame as advertised. I ordered one in ebony anyway.

I went back and read the description again.."Distinct" African Ebony..I'm not going to guess what that means other than its somehow special. Mr Hubbard can you let us know what it is? I'm not a wood snob or really know much about Ebony. The only time I ordered a true Custom 112 back in 2009 when we had the 30 day window for 112's I ordered Koa and somehow ended up with Figi (sp?) orange but kept it anyway. I do know there's a lot of different Ebony types that vary in color, density and desirability and some how this type is "Distinct"...Cool..

Yes, some did receive nickle silver. Others like myself received an email with a correction notice that they were brass with the option to return with no shipping charge or keep and a code for 25% off the next order. I kept it.

I would have paid $112 for the Nov Buck of the Month. My guess is the sweet spot is a price somewhere between the two. And real wood vs. DymaLux may also be a factor.
