Deep Carry Clips Suck

Don't know why so many here lust over deep carry clips, just makes it harder to draw the knife. Seems like a marketing gimmick to paranoid knife knuts.

Not familiar with deep carry clips. Are they the type of clips Benchmade uses? If so, very happy with them.

Deep carry clips might suck or they might not. A blanket opinion thread about things that suck always sucks.

Deep carry or regular, they all have uses and to each his own.

When clips first became a thing, I hated them. Then I tried a non traditional knife with a clip and loved it. Deep carry or otherwise I personally don’t care but I still like the way a clip practically frees up a pocket for, you know, more stuff.

Same here. Either way is fine. I live in the eastern side of WA state and most people carry pocket knives. Wasn't that long ago people carried their rifles in a rack in the back window,
I miss those days. better time. people were much calmer and minded their own business as well.

yep on what @91bravo said as well.

I am not a huge fan of pocket clips in general. The exception might be knives small enough to fit in my watch pocket (like my Kershaw Leek). In that case the clip is insurance that it stays there and then deep carry clips are pointless since my watch pocket isn't very deep. Otherwise, I remove the clips from knives that have them and either make a sheath, a slip or just throw it in my pocket with the keys and change. Part of that is because of NYC carry laws, so none of the knives I carry in the city have pocket clips or belt sheaths. All that said, I don't frown on others carrying their knives in whatever way suits them.

Why do you think they suck? You didn’t give any explanation, just complained that other people like them. In some areas, you need them to keep from “open carrying” a knife.
That was educational for me.
Will you elaborate or post a link ?

Why Deep carry clips Don't Suck. (IMO) When I was a youngster in the Mid 70's Every kid in my school carried a pocket knife of some sort. We would have whittling contests or make frog spears and lets not forget Mumblypeg. I walked around High school with a Buck 110 hanging off my belt never getting a second look but times and attitudes have changed. I can't speak for other states but Mass has been turned into Libtard central and it's simply not PC to carry Anything one could use to defend one's self anymore be it a pistol or knife. Example: I was at a youth hockey game and I was in the lobby helping my son retape his hockey stick when I dropped my Little Natrix on the floor at my feet when heard a woman gasp, I looked over to see her with her hand over her mouth turning and walking over to an on duty police officer to tell him I had a knife. I couldn't hear what she was saying but I could tell by her look that she was getting increasingly aggravated and when the conversation ended she stormed back to her seat across from me she quickly grabbed her belongings spilling her Dunkin Doughnuts Latte and moved to the other end of the lobby. Later I ask the officer what she said and he said it was no big deal and they get reactions like that all the time then he suggested that I leave in the car next time. Example #2: My brother in law while getting ready to butcher a deer and needing some supplies ran into a well known sporting good store with his skinning knife on his hip and was ask a short time latter by the manager to please remove his knife and put it in his car if he wanted to continue shopping. Those are just 2 events and I have had more but the point is If no one ever saw the knives than no one would have the chance to over react. Out of sight, out of mind. The hard truth is NO ONE really gives a crap about your knife nore do they want to see it except us knife nuts but we are unfortunately a small minority. As for SD purposes Doug Marcaida explained it well when he said (Knives are meant to be felt and not seen) but hey Op if you don't care what others think and you simply want to get to knife quicker then clip it on the outside of your belt, Hell clip one on each side and tell us how that works for ya but remember if your visiting lower New England you have to be PC bro.

Yeah, I'm starting to prefer shorter clips for faster deployment. Today I'm carrying my Protech that is DC but it is very smooth getting it out of pocket I have to admit. I almost thought about cutting this clip in half and rounding the bottom again. Still might do that. Somewhere by the blue line.

That's not what I said, people like differrent things, I'm asking why folks here are infatuated with DC clips. I also find it curious how members are sensitive about their knife preferences and what other members think of said preference.

I think this is called “the pot calling the kettle black”...

I remember getring something off the roof rack. Leaned on the car and the handle rubbed the door. Had to tell the significant other it must have been my girlfriend who got mad.

As I get older, I find that my memory isn’t what it once was. A deep carry clip makes it just that much more difficult to extract the knife from my pocket that I’m afraid I’ll have forgotten why I needed it by the time I can get to it. On the other hand, a deep carry clip is less obtrusive and ... wait, what was the question?

I prefer DC clips in general but don't throw a fit if some of my knives don't. As far as quick draw, I couldn't possibly care any less than I do now.

I like clips in general.
I don’t personally see the need for quick draw, but to each his own.

Way I see it...deep carry, regular carry, spring, or sculpted clip...all are great to me, unless they dont work to my satisfaction on that particular knife. Just my humble opinion. Now tip down deep carry clips...thats another discussion. Lol.

:) A non-issue for me . I just want a clip that works with the knife = stays put till needed but draws easy . Bonus if it doesn't tear up my pants .

Deep clips are better for clipping the knife outside your pocket. More secure that way. That’s why strider invented them duh

Personally not in the habit of changing my knife clips to DC but people should buy, what ever they want for their dough, even if Im not a fan.

On some knives, DC seems counterproductive. I bought a Yo2, which came with a DC clip; why one would equip a SD knife with a DC clip is beyond me but then I dont carry a knife for SD hence shouldnt really care one way or the other.
I yanked the DC clip anyway and also exchanged the scales (coyote instead of black G10). It makes for a fine cardboard killer, which is fairly easy to get out of the pocket.

Edit; added pic of aforementioned knife. Yo2 with coyote scales instead of black and 'bronze' MXG Gear titanium clip.

Good looking Yo
