Deep carry / low ride titanium clips for Spyderco - Delica, PM2, Manix, etc. - Run #3

You bet 3rd - the V1 pry tools are getting laser etched right now, and I'm hoping to have them ready to go soon. The version 2 will be ready in about a month or so, I hope.

Hey Chris - I'm shooting to have the black ones ready about the middle of July, and sooner if I can make it happen.

Thanks D1, I really appreciate the kind words. Yeah, I think you're right about the hole pattern. I'm afraid I don't have a design for that yet, but I'm hoping to get cracking on it.

I just picked up on your clips.

I have a Delica 4

Stone washed or Black long clip would be my preference.

If so, what is the order process?

Hey gnystrom - thanks for posting. The order info is on page 1 of this thread. I have some ready to go, so you can PP me and I'll get one out to you asap.

I definitely want one of them pry bars too how much do they cost? Like it matters I'll get one either way. I paid for a clip 10 days ago hope it comes soon this factory clip sucks.

Hey Casey I received one of your clips in the mail and I finally got around to install it and it seems that I can't get the screws to go in straight to attach your clip. It seems like the hole is in the way which is over the screws. Obviously there's a way to install it since many people have had great success with your clip. Is there a certain way to install this clip? I have tried many times but cannot get the screws to go in correctly. If anyone could help that would be great. Thank you!

Thanks gynstrom for the order and for the help with that link. I appreciate it!

Hey Big - will you shoot me a PM? You should've seen your clip by now - shoot me your 'real' name so I can check my orders and give you an update.

Thanks meltdown. Glad that helped.

Thanks Jason!

The Long Clip came in today for my well used Delica 4.
A bit of a challenge getting the stock longer screws to go through the clip and into the handle. (the shorter provided screws did not reach far enough into the FRN handle to do the job) I used a tweezers for the center screw, and screwed it in no problem with a #6 Torx. The trick I used on the two remaining longer stock screws that seemed too long to go in straight, was to raise and block up the tail end of the clip which allowed the two side screws to easily gain the clearance needed to get them in straight. Even though the stock ones were torx head, I put the screw in the small Allen wrench provided just to get them through the hole in the clip and sit correctly in the hole in the FRN handle. This was best accomplished if the knife is on top and you start the screw from the bottom.

BTW, this clip rocks.

Nice work Casey.

Hey gnystrom - thanks for the super helpful install explanation. It can be tricky, especially on FRN-scaled blades. As you mentioned, they need the OEM screws, which are a hair longer than the ones I send, and that small difference makes getting them through the access hole challenging. I appreciate the great intel, and thanks for sharing it.

Hey Casey, known about you for a while but haven't ever had a Spydie you could help with until now (or soon, anyway). Quick question on the shorter clip: do you have one that is anodized to a blue that matches the Domino blue CF scale?

Hey Craig - I haven't seen a blue CF Domino in person, so my best guess is based on looking at pics. It looks like the CF has some variation, from bright blue to a more navy color. The blue I can get is a bright royal blue... I'm afraid I can only get that one color of blue using my power supply. Blue is at the top of the spectrum I can achieve - the next color down is a blueish-purple.
Hope that helps a bit. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Casey, how does the anodizing hold up over time with medium to heavy use? Black factory clips with worn paint/powdercoat normally bug me, I end up sanding them to a satin finish a lot. I'm thinking about doing a short blue anodized clip for a pm2 I have on order, to match the scales I'm going to dye blue as well. Thoughts?

Casey,
The clip I ordered from you last Friday for my camo/silver PM2 arrived yesterday. It got installed nearly immediately, and I am absolutely loving it after Day 1. It truly lives up to the hype throughout this thread. The bronze is a good match to the camo, and I'm liking it much better than the original silver clip. It's far less conspicuous, and the knife effectively disappears into my pocket. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Hey F250 - in my experience, I don't think the anodizing holds up well under medium or hard use. Anodizing doesn't change the color of the ti - it just changes the way light reflects of the surface. So scratches and nicks will affect the finish. But part of my deal is that I'm happy to re-ano it whenever you need a 'refresh', no charge, and I'll pay for the shipping. So if you want to give it a try let me know. My preference is the sandwashed, but the ano does look pretty sharp in blue.

Thanks PJX, I really appreciate the kind words. I'm really glad it's working out for your PM2!

Hi Casey! Just got registered here because I've heard nothing but good things about your deep carry clips & want to get my hands on one! I have a black/black PM2 and I was wondering if I could get your opinion on what would look best: anodized blue or just the regular sandwash? Also, since I am new here and want to get things right, for PP do I just send over what I'll owe you and attach my shipping information/order details in notes?

Exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks Casey! In that case I'll be ordering a short and long clip in sand washed in the next day or so. I had a feeling sand washed would be better for my purposes anyways. The clips will be going on a pm2 and endura, both of which are in my regular edc rotation. And I scratch clips like crazy.
