Ohio gun season just wrapped up this weekend. Back to archery for a bit and then muzzleloading starts up.

Just curious how everybody has done so far this season.

Show em off if you scored this season. Here are a couple of mine.

8 Point opening day of gun season. Shot at 135 yards with 12 ga slug

P.S. Don't forget to include which knife you used to clean em up.

I have seen a lot of healthy bucks around here in SE PA. Woke up to an 8 pt. whitetail in the backyard over the weekend! Looking forward to seeing everyones pictures

nice.... sooooooo what knife did you use to clean em up?

Crap I broke my own rules. I tell everybody to show there knives they used then I don't. Man I need to pay more attention.

Used my Custom shop Active Duty. I think this makes something like 33 or 34 deer that this knife has done.

I'm in Texas, I usually hunt each season, I have a small acreage and can pretty much shoot in my back yard. But the drought was intense and most of the deer here just barely made it through. They looked like they were from Ethiopia so most of us in the area gave them a break this year. I hate cleaning a deer for 25lbs of meat, figured I'd let them recover till next year. feeding them alot of protein till then.

Nice buck there Garth. And nice crossbow. Just don't ask about my half a dozen hunting trips this season.....bad luck for me.....

But I still have till Jan 16 to get one with my crossbow (got me a disability permit after my back surgery last year)........I'm ready for winter in the worst way.

Congrats again on them good lookin deer. Bring that doe meat down I-75 a ways and I'll make some of that drunken chili for ya. :D

Deer season?

I got a problem.

There's a 4 point Muley buck that lays under my crab apple tree in the back yard nearly every night. He is between me and my shop. Some nights during the "RUT" he snorts a challenge and I go back in the house. No sense my wife finding me in the yard in the morning. She would have to call 911...after she quits laughing. She got no sympathy for an old man who does not know when to stay inside. His horns are long enough to go clean through me.

Only we don't have a "BALL PIEN HAMMER" season in Wyoming.

It's too close for anything else...the neighbor hates it when I shoot out the back door.

Nice looking buck Garth

No bucks for me so far, but did get a couple of does.

Last year I didnt kill any bucks till January and killed a nice 8 point, hopefully this year is similar.

Nice deer, good spread. We have shot a 5 1/2 year 8 pt that grossed 117 BC, weighed 145 and a 2 1/2 yr old spike management deer. I let walk a 120 class 4 1/2 yr old opening morning as he was rut crazy. I just hope the neighbor does not shoot him. Killed at least a dozen hogs since Nov4 and plan on a few more. Going out this week for a few days for the second estrus cycle. Hope to see a mature buck as I can't kill one unless he is old enough. If I do any hog damage I will send pics. I expect to see a few with the recent rains our food plots should take off.

Nice deer, Garth!

I'm hunting NW Texas - no shooter bucks, yet, still out chasing does... lots of juvenille bucks, a few straggler does... and then these stop by trying to steal corn...

Used a skinny-ASH1 to clean them, alas, no pics of the action, the drizzling rain, and fast-approaching darkness precluded us from taking pics of the knife work... :( Will do better, next time. :)

Nice :) I got a little 8 point at 120-130 yards with my 308. No pics because he was no trophy but he was legal (point restriction in MO) and will be good eatin'.

Garth, good looking dear there Bro!!! What kind of bang stick did you use?

It's been the worst season ever, for many around here. The drought has affected us however, the mast crop this year is staggering in size somehow ? It has everything scattered and corn is so expensive. The season is halfway through, so there is still time to turn it around. I have only got a medium size 10 point thus far and is the only Deer I have seen this year.

10 Point at 0830 first day of gun season. He was at a trot with a 6 doe harem at 129 yards (lasered after he was down). Remington 870 12 ga rifled Hastings barrel, Leupold scope, with sabot slugs. Nasty raining day. I am seeing deer all over the place but only 1 for me in my county after gun season starts so I'm done. Almost forgot....Tan Yardkeeper did some of the work, wyoming knife and saw did the rest. I love that Res C when my gloved hands get bloody. Bring on the Basic 4 for next year!

Remington 1100 with cantilever rifled slug barrel and Hornady SST slugs. Lethal combination. Once sighted in and compensating for distance I was shooting consistant groups all the way out to 300 yards.

Garth,

Yours is pretty nice too and what a shot! What crossbow is that. I am thinking of upgrading next year. I think I'm switch to those Horn sabots too, they have a good deal longer range than the Win Partitions I've been using.

Got a big spike and a doe within seconds of each other at last light both were the same size and I thought I was getting 2 does. I'm in a herd management area so I got plenty of tags. Everyone in my party ended up with a deer this year which is first time since 2002. My father-in-law got his biggest buck ever 7 points and 145lb dressed.
I got to try out my BJLE a few times which worked slick as snot. The BJ replacing my CABS for field work, but still used the CABS for all the boning and skinning. Neither one is mint anymore, but here's pics anyhow.
