Nah, just gotta keep trying....or get a proxy.Well, I lost the battle for the one thousandth time again today. But I comfort myself in knowing that my DEK3 from the pre-order will be here next month. Supposedly, anyway.
However with pre-orders coming to an end, that and the shiv I also have on pre-order might be the last CPKs I ever see.
Listen to this newb go on...Yeah, we tend to help out the regulars when they're in need. People generally get what they want, within reason, if they stick around and don't act like an asshole.
Not that you are acting like an ass, just a general observation after a few years at this![]()
I'm there with you friendQuick question;
Is the top swedge on the standard DEK3 unsharpened?
I thought it was originally supposed to be sharp?
*** Well duh... just checked the pre-order, and saw that it's unsharpened. Hmmm... guess I'll have to wade into the pool to try for one if they ever pop up on the regular sales.
It's 'unsharpened', but only a few thou thick. I was using mine today and it's not super comfortable to assist the cut by pushing on it. You could sharpen it in a few minutes...Quick question;

I think I misunderstood you. I thought you meant you would want it sharp. Now I'm thinking you want it less close to sharp...It's a great looking knife, but that "not sharpened" swedge is a no-go for me personally.
I wasn't replying to your post, but I'm glad you clarified anyway.Breakage was not my concern at all. I just don't need anything sharp-ish on the top of the knife. Personal choice...in case you were replying to my post.
Please feel free to reply, or not reply, to my non-replying replies any time the mood strikes you, compadre.Bruce, my reply to your not replying to me was still addressing the wrong knife.
I've had some funny and awkward interactions with the RCMP over the years...Fortunately, like the civilized RCMP stations I've visited back in the day, they have alcohol on premises.
Likewise. I'm pretty sure the Customs guys at the Yukon/Alaska border crossing were laughing and shaking their heads long after I left.Now Canadian Customs...I can tell a funny story about.
The swedge is "sharpish" but NOT sharpened.Quick question;

This is why you don't drink Imperial Ale and post. I thought you were referring to the DEK 3 since that's the thread. DEK 1? Not worried about breaking that bitch at all. (Nor the DEK 2, by a somewhat wider margin.)
Sorry for the hiccup.![]()

I'm confusing Richard, Bruce and myself now.
For clarity:
Richard, I don't want a sharp-ish swedge. Not my thing, and don't "need" it.
Bruce, my reply to your not replying to me was still addressing the wrong knife. LOL. No way I'd worry about breaking the DEK 1, and if I did manage to do so, it'd be operator error.
Someone, get me a beer.
