Stay tuned, an option in the preorder was sharpened tip and swedge, effectively dagger ground. We should see them imminently.Hmm after seeing these beautiful dek3s, has me wondering if Nathan will ever do a dagger ground version like the UF2/DEF2. A mini dek dagger.
Seems like it's popping up in the Friday sales. That's how I got mine in D3V. Magnacut hasn't been offered outside the pre-orders that I know of.Is the 3 going to be a full-time offering?
I was Soooo close to buying at the preorder, but I just didn't have the funds for it Then....and I was curious (chicken sh*t) how MC was going to be?
This knife I could see liking, though.
THIS is what I see when I look at it, pretty much as you describe.the DEK3 was always intended to be capable as serving a tactical chef's needs. The suggested variant for tactical chef use would have a higher grind line for a more acute included bevel angle- possibly hollow ground- and no swedge.

For something thinner and slicey like the DEK3, that WON'T be used for things like chopping nails etc., is there an advantage to Magnacut over D3V, besides corrosion resistance? The DEK1 will probably become a repeated pattern but the others will not.
We had a breakthrough at Peters this week. About to start pumping out some Magna cut.
Generally, magnacut has a little more abrasion resistance, which is sometimes called (mistakenly in my opinion) edge retention, and it's very corrosion resistant (i.e stainless). For something thinner and slicey like the DEK3, that WON'T be used for things like chopping nails etc., is there an advantage to Magnacut over D3V, besides corrosion resistance?
That’s my thinking…I expect better stainlessness and better edge retention on stuff like cardboard while 3V will remain a little harder to damage in rough use. I think Magnacut is going to be pretty much unparalleled in kitchen knives and a very strong choice in pocket knives.Generally, magnacut has a little more abrasion resistance, which is sometimes called (mistakenly in my opinion) edge retention, and it's very corrosion resistant (i.e stainless).
I know that CPK has an optimized heat treat for 3v and magnacut, but both those things should remain true regardless.
Would you sell cosmetic defects at a discounted price/ with a disclaimer?
I imagine Nathan wouldn't sell something that isn't perfect, but it doesn't hurt to ask.Id buy an Ugly one (as long as it's only cosmetic) at full price. I Just want a USER....and heck, I'm probably going to grind off the thumb ramps anyhow... :d
