Deposit/ordering instructions for HTM Forum Gunhammer -- ***IMPORTANT***

Puhlease! You know you have. Just like how nobody picks their nose when no one is around.

Also, Neuron, according to Ray Allen, Phil Wilson runs his S90V at 61-62Hrc so I think that would be a good bet. I know DDR said he was fine with 60-61, would 61-62 be okay? I would like it run pretty hard. At that high hardness it will be a monster.

I've sent Darrel an email amending the requested target hardness to 61-62 HRC.

Thanks Neuron. I believe in a different thread he made mention to Peters doing the heat treat also.

I an stupid excited about this knife. Its unreal how much involvement we have had. This better be an annual thing from now on, but we need to start working with DDR early if we want special stuff like cool new blades and crazy steel.

I would love for the next knife to be a special model done in HTM's semi custom fashion, maybe something like a ti liner lock aluminum handled AXD to keep the cost down. That would be disgusting. A Maxx in the 4" version would also be unreal. But, maybe the Gunhammer is the best platform for what we want.

Maybe next years can even be a brand new framelock or something and could be released as a forum knife first!

Yeah, if this project ends up being as well-received as I hope it will be, I could see it becoming an annual thing. Hopefully the process will be a bit quicker/easier next time -- while still allowing for the same high level of forum input -- since we will have done it before and will will know what options we can and can't customize.

When time for the next one rolls around, we can vote on which model we want to use as the "base". HTM has a ton of cool stuff on the way, so there'll probably be even more models to choose from.

Update: Darrel replied and reminded me that, as he mentioned elsewhere in this or one of the other threads, the tolerance range on the HT is 2 HRC points for this sort of batch HT (i.e., not Phil Wilson HTing custom blades one-at-a-time). So the final (official) range is 60-62 HRC.

Important -- please read below. The configuration is final.

Just got a reply from Darrel asking me to let everyone know that they have all the info they need to make the knife, and the configuration is now set in stone (including blade markings, 60-62 HRC range for the S90V, Type 2 Evergreen anodizing, etc.). If you have any other ideas for blade shapes, steels, etc. that you'd like to see on a HTM Gunhammer or any other HTM models, save them for next year or start a new thread as a dedicated place for such discussion ("what features would you like to see on the HTM Gunhammer?" or something like that).

At this point, the only thing remaining for everyone to do on this knife is to get your deposits and order info in if you haven't already. As soon as everyone gets their deposits in, Darrel will order the materials and start making these knives a reality!

AWESOME. I'm gonna call tomorrow and pay the rest of the cost so I'm paid in full, now that I have my new card in. Time to go put in some conversation about the next one in the other thread...

The awesome thing about this whole project is that I am not sure any other subforum could put together something like this, this quickly. Hark and Neuron really stepped up big time and it's awesome how much input we have had with this knife.

Those who have been keeping track should know the first post asking if people were interested was on 5/25/2012. That's a bit over 2 1/2 months ago.

I can't wait for the next annual HTM forum knife. I am also really thankful that we have had such an accommodating manufacturer to work with. If we can start brainstorming for the next knife here in a couple months, and get DDR to tell us what kinda stuff he has in the works blade wise, steel wise, and design wise then we could have one crazy knife.

Who was it who wanted a Blackie Collins Bolt Action Gunhammer? Was that you Crimson?

That's probably because we have a tight knit group of folks here. Sometimes it helps to be a smaller group of folks. If our subforum had the activity of the general forum, this would have taken a long time.

Yep, that was me. I would love a bolt action gunny. That may have to wait for my custom though.
It's not just that. Darrel would need to get licensing rights to use a bolt action lock.

I'm actually in the process of facilitating a licensing agreement on another lock, one quite dear to me. I'm not ready yet to say anything, plus everything is just kinda in a discussion phase between Darrel and the other party. If this goes through, it will be huge, even a milestone in knife making IMO.

Dangit Hark. I have never met anyone on a forum with so many secrets. I eagerly wait your announcement.

I hate to be a guesser, but I am guessing the Compression lock by Spyderco, or the AXIS lock by BM. I love the suspense!

Payment info for #'s 21 and 34 passed to Stephanie last Friday; no confirmation receipt as of this date/time.

Tried to notify Darrel per his earlier post (#93) but apparently he hasn't seen it.

Condolences to Stephanie and her family.

It's not a lock currently in use.

He told me, as well as Stephanie this morning via email, that we should see our receipts tomorrow Wednesday.

Think I might call up and change my blade to torpedo.

You are kiling me. This should be really good huh? Can you answer this, it's for your custom but do the plans ever involve using it on an HTM knife? For being a smaller manufacturer, HTM knives seem to evolve fast and in creative fashion.

I suppose it could be possible if he feels like adding that option somewhere down the line, though it's more work and prob would be an HTM custom shop offering.

I bet it's a lock that works by wedging a rhinestone between the blade tang and the stop pin.
