Destruction test on the Battle Mistress

Man, I better sell off my Busse blades quickly before the value plummets.. time to stock up on cold steel Bushman's

Don't laugh to loud bucko... A lot of paying Gold members of this forum
and also buyers and sellers Strider knives got hammered when it became fashionable on this forum to bash them. I know the value of my small collection of Strider knives was adversely effected. I still have not figured what I did to blade forums to deserve that kind of treatment.

Since then I have moved money and interest to Busse knives. But imagine if things were to fall into place... A few more knives like the Scotch dispenser, maybe a falling out with blade forum ownership over peoples conduct on Ganzaa nights... Forum regulars tire of some of the over the top stuff that gets said.... Wham it becomes fashionable to slam Busse knives and make fun of people that buy them... I have already seen this on other forums.
Have you heard the word Infi-erior Steel yet? I have seen it used negatively on another forum.

Its not about the knives always...sometimes its about trends and fashion.

People can trash/slam/make fun of whatever they want. You buy and use the knives you like because they do what you need them to do. Not because it is in fasion.

I agree that "brand bashing" should not go on here. Not because we do not want the same done to Busse knives but rather because it's not really necessary IMHO. There are lots of other great brands with great staff working hard behind their products. Jerry's knives are what they are. They speak for themsleves. But I do like to hear opinions from others. And, yes, from time to time there will be fakes, knock offs, or just plain scammers who make all sorts of unbacked claims. To them I say, "No regrets"!

.

You know, I think the strider bashing was more directed to his character and not his knives if I remember correctly. I have never heard anyone say that the strider folders are anything but bank vault tough. His fixed blades aren't my cup of tea, but They have always had a reputation for toughness, in spite of being stainless steel.

In fact, I remember when Cold Steel came out with their obvious rip-off of striders fixed blade, that many came to striders defense including myself. If I was in the market for a hard use folding knife, it would probably be a strider.

seems like you are more worried about lost profits than anything else. I think most of us hogs are not in it for the money and those that are in it for the money have no clue what being a hog is all about.

As for Infi-rior usage in another popular forum, I don't believe they would be that stupid as we always have that put up or shut up moto. They sure don't make themselves known at Blade EAST or WEST do they. I do not collect these knives for their money making potential so I really do not care what happens in the future as it will not effect what I have at all. I get them for me and I have tested them hard enough that I know there is nothing out there better and that includes cpm3V.

In a perfect world maybe. But there are a lot of other reasons people buy knives. To fit in and be part of a group? To be a Hog? Speculation on re-sell values? People have hundreds of Busse knives because they need them to do what exactly? I have a dozen BMs of various types. Why?

Some of this is Fashion and group dynamic. That does not make it bad. But I stand by my original point that things other than knife quality or intrinsic value can effect price and desirability. Thats all. Not hating or bashing.

I happen to think at store prices Busse knives are excellent values. The entire family. I just scored a new Chopwieler for 198 dollars. I think that is a good price. I think that knife, to a user of knives, stands very well on its own merit. No need for hype, clubs, glass beads or other trinkets. I would buy based on that. But a lot of people would not. They need to come here and other forums and get validation. Hell I have done that! Some guys spend small fortunes building small home studios to take pictures of toys they never use and post them here for the accolades. Is that bad? Not to me. I enjoy the posts!!

I bet on the first three pages of the Busse forum there are 20 or 30 posts primarily done to get validation from the "group". I do it too. When I do a pretty convex job on a big chopper that took me hours, I love to come here and post about it. That post damn sure doesn't make the knife sharper.

Bottom line my friend is that is a fragile culture.

Mostly I buy these knives in the hopes of one day getting a girlish wink from Amy.

Is that bad? I could use some validation here.

Not so much worried as well a little annoyed. The culture shift here on Strider knives cost me several thousand dollars. Not going to effect my retirement or lifespan. But yeah I am more carefull about that kind of thing now. Since that incident did not hurt Strider and did hurt Strider owners many of them paying members here, I just think it was unfortunate. It sure was for me.

As far as being clueless I have already addressed that in another post. I think there is plenty of cluelessness to go around. But I will step up and admit to my share.

I am actually a little proud of my cluelessness. Makes me different and sexy.
:D

I am as clueless as you as I do not care about these tests and what they will do. They are what they are. Don't you think that if Cliff could not give Busse a bad name, anyone else will? I don't think you need to worry about it, but I do feel for you about the Striders as that does suck.

I am not sure how Mad Dogs still command monster prices after all the bad press they got in the late 90's. So there is always hope and time does heal all wounds.

Heck no!! Not me! I am far too manly for that.

I would never buy two SHBMs at high prices and then post pictures on the Busse Forum. :D

Really.

[OK -- you got some validation. ;)]

Man this forum needs a validation button.... That would save MAJOR $$

Your all right OP.

This olive is my validation button.

Now you're talkin'. :D

I agree with both of you.I wonder what it will take to chip, and eventually snap the knife. It will definitely be interesting.

he may get the edge to tear in places - but no way is it going to chip. infi acts like a soft steel at the edge, only it takes more force to deform it then it does with a soft steel.

hammer or not, it won't chip.

Ok, the word "infi-rior" is just plain ridiculous IMHO.

I don't know. It's pretty witty, if you ask me. I disagree strongly with the premise, but I don't have to agree with the sentiment to admire the intelligence of the putdown.

I despise Gary Trudeau's politics and still manage to laugh at his comic. Same deal here.

Rick

oh i find it witty, its just that it would be complete if there was a product that it was inferior to.
