The LMF won't even stand to 1/8 the abuse a Busse or Rat or even a Scrapyard will stand to. I've seen a LMF merely get dropped from about waist high onto a rock and snap at the handle. There was only about 3/8 width of steel going into the handle...what a joke! My buddy accidentally dropped his LMF during a camping trip. It snapped....we laughed!
 
i could break any blade with a 8 lb. sledge and a few 4 by 4's! but after spending the amount of money i have on busse blades why would i? i'm happy to cut and chop like normal people! we don't buy knives to break them, we buy them hoping they never will. also they look cool too!

Yeah... I occasionally run across a thread on other forums bashing Busse's. Those of us who regularly buy from Jerry catch quite a bunch of crap too... And, well...Found this one a while ago:

I posted something similiar on the Busse Forum in Blade Forums. Believe me, if you post something negative about Busse there, you are a whiner. I got some interesting comments back, including one from Jerry Busse. Busse obviously sells everything they can make. There are guys who buy literally dozens of them when they initially come out and HOG the market. (example, there is a post on there right now with an even dozen FBM's where he just opened the box from the post office, thats over 5k of INFI. Another guy bought 27 game wardens at once and got a new nickname for it) They currently offer one model in two different versions on the main website. The FBM's. One is combat grade which you can choose your options on (blade color and handle color/material) and the other is a limited edition which only comes in one configuration. Both are very pricy and very big. Their Busse Company Store sells the later models as they are available after the main website moves to their next model. Difference is you get whatever they seem to be offering configuration wise. The secondary market is huge. Markups are their game from what I can see. I love Busse knives but I totally agree with you. It pisses me off to no end. The bottom line is that Jerry Busse is selling all he cares to make of each model and doesnt care what we think. He has a following that is unreal. I had a couple of older models already and wanted some newer ones. I sucked it up and paid the price. Its a hard decision my friend. It is what it is and I can't change it. Would if I could tho! Is it really worth dropping $400+ for one stinking knife that doesn't come with a sheath? (That really pisses me off btw) Why can't I legally shoot these a**bags who want to sell me the knife I want on the secondary market for $200 + when the first price tag was $139? And it still doesn't come with a sheath? Should I just let it go? Anyone got a Bog Dog they want to sell me? I feel like I really hate Busse and his bastard offspring now but I really, really want one of those stinking knives.

Those posts you quoted, Jaxx...it's interesting to note they are not bashing the knives at all, rather the difficulty in obtaining them. So basically, they are just pissed cuz they can't get a knife they REALLY REALLY WANT. :rolleyes:

I am curious however to find anyone who says "infi-rior" or whatever and bashes the actual knives or the steel.
 
it would be fun to give a bunch of athletic people some rope, logs etc and test to see who can break them and the durability of the knives.

I have not strayed from this forum so much in one night....between this thread and the Scotch Dispenser links.....there are some FUNNY things being said...and some UGLY knives out there.....I am staying home from now on!

LOL, I'm with you! I found that thread Google'ing for INFI for sale a few months ago.
 
I must say I am surprised at some of these posts. It is nice to get validation from the group and it is loads of fun to share pictures and experiences related to knives. But all this enjoyable type stuff is about people and not about knives. When push comes to shove we are all alone with our blades and if they do not do what we want then they suck but if they do the job they are great. SO far all my knives do what I expect and Busses, above all have never let me down. WHat I want from a knife Busse delivers in spades and nothing anyone says or thinks or posts can change any of that. The cost of my knives is between me and my checkbook and to hell with everyone else. I could not care what anyone says about anything if I know different. I feel sorry for anyone that judges their steel by what goes on here on the forums or in some internet related netherworld. I enjoy all these forums and the people who post. Especially the Busse forum but let's keep our perspective. It is about the steel after all.
 
I think Cliff stamp is the reason a lot of people are onto Busses. It was for me. Now, this noss4 or whatever his name was is no Cliff Stamp. It's not nearly as controlled and objective. He hardly even does cutting tests, right? Just outright tries to destroy the thing? But I think the bm will still stand up a good bit above it's peers before it's destroyed. I don't think it will hurt Busse's rep at all.

I've done pretty good buying, selling and trading my knives and I would hate for that to change, but at the same time I collect for the knives not the resale, so if the prices were to drop for reasons you mention I can't imagine I would cry too much. That just means I could get more steel for my money. :)

In regards to the ganzas and stuff, it doesn't happen often and it is over before you know it. The paying members here contribute as much as the paying members who do not come to the Busse forum. If another knife company wanted to do a ganza type thing and it brought the forum to it's knees, I can almost assure you that you wouldn't hear so much as a grumble from us. As for slamming Busse knives and their fans/users, that is nothing new. We take a beating every now and then and we could care less. Some get their feathers ruffled and strike back, but most just shake our heads and continue to use our knives we like so well.
