Deusker to the Rescue

The Story I was Told 7+ years ago was 50 or so Sharpened Swedges, and Six or so coated, false Sharpened all the way to the edge, so as to appear sort of rounded on top.

But I have seen very Few Top sharpened in person.

Tube Fastener SHBM:

shbmsale03.jpg

The second SHBM is particularly interesting. It has a factory-sharpened swedge ... something I've never heard of before.

This ought to keep the addiction numb for awhile.

Many things going on with this one...1 of 300 blank with one of 6 sharpened swedge...but one of the last 2 SHBM's to leave the factory with krinkle coated blades?!

Great score but much like the SHBMJA I just got, not from the 98-00 period of SHBM's.

It has ALL of the best features from the SHBM runs on one knife...

A great knife and a great score.

I resisted this for over six months, but I couldn't resist it forever.

Then -- I just couldn't FIND it.

Deusker (Gary) was my White Knight.:D:cool:

So now I'm broke ... but I'm also happy.

And now -- for some 'classic Busse':

I particularly like the the tube fastener SHBM you have there OP, very nice my friend.

But 7 years ago there were no krinkle Coated blades with tube fasteners
And from the ones I had they were only sharpened down to about the thickness of a dime

This is a newer knife with all the whistles and bells.

Very sweet I might add...:)

You are incorrectly applying data to a later period knife. Those were original run 300's. This is not an original run 300 since it has crinkle coat and tubes so your info would not apply to this one.

C'mon, do you really believe there was only two crinkle coats out of the shop during that time period. You had two and I am sure more than you had them. I'd bet there was at least a 100 or so.

Yes there was crinkle coated SHBM's 7 years ago, right at the end of the SHBM run, you had one or two yourself. I do not believe this is an "after-run" SHBM. I believe this is an original run SHBM, with a sharpenned clip and crinkle coating.

Pbubsy has one very similar to it except it lacks the sharpenned clip, but it has the 300 style clip and tubes. The handle is the typical fully grooved micarta handle popular at the time.

AWESOME SCORE:D:D

Excellent! Many thanks for the information!

OK, OK. I'm writing all this down... :D

How many have you seen or better yet owned?

If it came at the end of the SHBM run, how can it be one of the 1st 300?

NO, Pbusby doesn't have one similar to it, his is not 1 of 300 with the clip point.
Yes, it has tube and grooves, it is also from The Lost Treasure Box" that Jerry found a few years ago in the shop.
How do I know all of this?
Because I sold it to him

I'll try to do a search for you on it later as the server is no working correctly right now.

AHA!! Now we can complete its provenance!!

Thanks for the post. :)

it cannot be a 1/300, we agree on that and that is what I stated. But because it has straight grooved handles, it is obvious tat it was made during the original run and before the very end since, diagonal groove and diamond quilted handles were the last handles used.

Also, Pauls tube knife is similar to this one except it is not sharpenned. Are you saying Pauls knife does not have a clip? It indeed has a 300 style clip on it, but just like this knife here, it is not an original run 300 knife.

Cool info for paul though on how his came about, I think he will appreciate that.

Shall we say "You have become.........Comfortably Numb"

Not being a man of physics myself can you give me a calculated explanation why I shouldn't have one of those  and :D
Serious congratulations !! :)

I had pictures of those knifes but my computer crashed and they are lost.
I sure don't remember them having the sharpened clip point tho...

Gather round as we "member" dayz gone by and tell the story of...;)

You know what, I think we are talking about different knives. The knife your talking about has no clip, the one I am talking about does. I have the crinkle coat knife you sold to paul. He has a clip point tube knife just like the one above except it is not sharpenned.

Too bad your PC crashed, I had the same thing happen to me and I lost a ton of old Busse knife pics from the old days. Damm.

SWEET SCORE, OP! I'm starting to really like the bolt-fastener models. Outstanding score, sir! (Guess I'll have to go comfort my BM-E before she gets worried.) ;)

A girl needs a knife....

Seriously, OldPhysics... NICE SCORES you lucky HOG!!! I really like the slotted bolt SHBM. :D:thumbup:

EDITED to ADD: Don't you live a little TOO CLOSE to Cobalt to be owning SHBM's???? LOL, watch your back!!!! He should be sneaking up behind you intent on those beauties ANY MINUTE now! LMAO

Whoa, just found this thread :p....Sweet finds OP!!!! I really like the slotted screw SHBM!!! You know why? Because I have one JUST like it except I satin finished and beat on it! It's my favorite knife because of the comfort of the handles :D. It's the one on the bottom:

Chuck, the swedged knife Dennis is talking about isn't the one you sold me (Treasure Chest SHBM) though he referred to the crinkle coating on that one. He's referring to a SHBM I got off a member here (that doesn't post very often) whom got it from it's original owner and traded it to me. The original owner didn't participate in BF and I actually don't know how he came about it. It's got the grooved micarta scales, but the swedge and the grind of the blade are the same as my 1/300's. The coating is the original flat black coating (it's the one in the middle of the first picture).

I figure it's either a 1/300 blank that was later finished but without the 1/300 heat treatment or it's a 1/300 that was refurbished towards the end of the SHBM run, possibly with different scales, though they look alot like the scales on two of my 1/300's :D.

Either way, I've looked high and low for SHBM's at various times and can honestly say I've never seen a crinkle coated sharpened swedge CGFBM. Sweet knife!

The lightest SHBM I've ever had is the tube fastener swedged knife I have. It's .250'' and cut narrower than most SHBM's. It's very quick in the hand. My 1/300's are .275'' and my CGSHBM (slotted screw) uncoated is .245''.
