Deusker to the Rescue

OP of all the great people here you are really one of the best.

I'm going to need to own one of you knives some day:D

Well after Ducci and I settle up :grumpy:

And the same to you, my Western friend!

Don't worry ... your knife is here, somewhere.

Right now, I still have to figure out how this chair is supposed to work.

Good night ... and good love. ;)

This is a nice Longrow -- out of the Springbank Distillery in Campbelltown. Really the only thing left in that prestigious area.

Every once in awhile, conditions seem prime to the Master Distiller. So he brews/distils up a batch of Longrow.

Smooth, mellow, but with more than a hint of fire. Much broader and more satisfying than most single malts. Not at all grassy, not as full-bodied as a sherried single malt (such as MacAllan). A different and very satisfying experience.

Longrow? Earlier this summer I was at a business dinner, seated next ot one of our VPs for Technology from the UK. The talk turned to whiskey (:D) and he commented that he didn't drink most single malt because it was "commercial". He preferred small bottlings direct from the original distilleries. He specifically mentioned Longrow. It is not sold in these parts, but I was able to find it on-line for ~$70. I passed on that.

Slainte!

OP that is just a "XXX" :p

the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx was just a space filler on a dbl post:o

But yes I'm on my way out

Hmmm. I think he's moved on to more important matters.

Finally, to the North!

No, not Glenmorangie. Further North ... to the frigid Isle of Orkney. :D

Highland Park 12! A lovely amber, this dram 'has it all' -- heather, peat, the scent and taste of the North Sea, and the total malt experience. Another long, long finish with a taste of heather honey on the tongue. Many love Highland Park to the exclusion of all other single malts. It's a taste every man should be treated to at least once in his life.:thumbup:

To whoever reads these words, good luck and good cheer!

Good Heavens, man! Don't pass on that -- it's usually MUCH more difficult to find and much more dear.

I certainly don't feel most single malt is too commercial ... but I do love a good Longrow. :D

Oh, and Skaal in honor of the Forums' own Swedish Chef!

No liquor for me tonight... I'm sipping some coffee, but...

Cheerz, mates!! :D:thumbup:

Highland Park 18 year is one of my favorites. The difference between the islays and highland malts is a matter of mood for me. Depending on my mood I go with one or the other. Tonight I had Lagavullin 16 year. Yestyerday I had Talisker 18 but 3 days before that I had Dalwhinie 15 year.

back-off woody, you and hairball need to stop gathering all the old stuff. Don't you know that the old gang was nice and happy till you guys came along. Now, you are threatening to undermine all we have worked for over the years.

Ducci, remember our pact. Don't let these runts get a hold of our stuff. We have let too much of it go already. We give them stuff and they are not happy with that. In the span of a week Tony has already gotten 2 to 3 SHBM's. And lets not even talk about Paul. They are like a couple of Leper cons and I do mean Leper cons.

I only want one more SHBM: A CGSHBM so I can have it modified at the shop to have Orange G-10 slabs with a birds beak, a swedge, rounded spine, D/C finish, and a thinned edge :D.

AND I want 2 SHSH's....one to use, and the other if I loose the user as a backup ;)

You have good taste. I, also, go with my moods. Else, what is single malt for?

BLASPHEMY I say

BLASPHEMY? BLASPHEMY? I've already achieved what I wanted....to get all the SHBM's I wanted and shoot everyone else in the foot that wanted to get one after me....HOW? By driving the prices up another 50% MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Paul, thanks for the pic. That 300 swedge tube knife is either a refurb that had it's handles removed and refinished then rehandled with tubes, or it is a later model that was made with a swedge. Either way it is rare.

The knife Jamie shows is very similar in that it has the 300 or in this case, the 1 of 50 sharpened top edge. However, it is either a 300 that was sent in and redone and rehandled at a later time or it was a regular production SHBM that had a sharpenned clip added. Either way it is very rare as well. Two very rare pieces.

Jerry could shed some light on both of these since he should be able to remember these oddities if we could get him to respond.
