"Devil's Elbow" my backpacking shotgun project

I have a new England pardner 12 gauge I did kinda like that cut the barrel to 18.5 took the fore stock off but I am just using a bead front sight....now you have me thinking about tapping it for ghost ring sights.

Scottman... no, sorry, I've seen some leather lace-on with leather loops on some Cowboy action guns... why I mentioned it, tried an elastic loop on my house gun, but when I shot a competition match, it moved around unacceptably... my 870 has a larger receiver, so switched to the plastic side saddle... I use 3GunGear for my Benelli M1S90, but don't keep the loops loaded... you might try a plastic side saddle attached to the butt stock with industrial Velcro

Yeah! I need to get some sights also, haven't really nailed down which ones I want. don't know if fiber optic ones are tough enough. I'll for sure need some though.

Those leather ones look great. On my 30-06 I have an elastic one, but sewed cloth over it, with two buttons keeping the top flap closed. 8 rounds of 165 grain, and 1 snap cap.

I just had that elastic one laying around.

Getting more hobby money they leather one would be a good upgrade, or make myself one for cheap if I can get some leather.

Plastic is also a good suggestion. I'll have to check that out, I don't think those are that expensive, and probably pretty durable.

thanks. :)

You can find nylon ones that lace on also.

Even better, IMO, is the style that has velcro straps.

It is kind of neat how the antique 22 insert has a built in extractor that mates with the shotguns extractor too.

I have a rossi matched pair ( a break down single shot with swapable barrels in .22 and .410) It's filled the pot a fiar amount in the last year, but I'm wishing I had gotten something with a littl emore juice than the .410 (although I dig the round) Looks like that set up you got there is spot on.

Yeah, me too. Shoulda got a 22/20.

Of course, I claim it belongs to my 10 yoa son so I guess I can buy another without having to explain much to mama.

last spring i bought a h& r sinle shot 270 & put an inexpensive scope on it. not nearly as light as scottmans but handy in a jeep with no top. the idea since we have lots of hogs was to be handy & quick. worked on findind a factory load thru the summer since i only had limited time on my brothers ranch range. it shot pretty good but i like to get 1" groups at 100 meters. i believe if you have confidence in your gun it makes a more confident shooter. admittedly 2 in. groups are really all you need for 1 to 2 hundred yds. the h& r was a little cranky but sure liked the fed. ballistic tip. not nearly as light as scottmans but the single shot gun has tons of possibilities. 1st animal is hog in hunting & fishing. the monster only went 125 feet after the ballistic tip. these little shooters championed by scottman can be tossed in w/o worry about scratching the wood like you would on a weatherby or sako. i/m looking to get a 12 next.

I think the rossi combos are a lot of gun for the money for woodsbummin. Been very tempted to buy one because they go on sale for about 100 dollars.

Could always get the 20 version and get a 20 gauge to 410 adapter from

Scott, have you shot your 22 adapter yet? How accurate?

no, kind of busy. hopefully on the weekend just to check sound signature. Should be quiet(er) due to physics than the short 22 adapter. Got to find some more work to get some currency to put into getting sights for it. I am disappointed in what the company calls rifling, but I can't exactly go back in time and tell them that. :D Either way, getting a 22 barrel liner would make it more accurate if it came down to it and I wanted to years down the road. http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/tableList.aspx?catId=14&subId=142&styleId=483

Working man's woodsbummin gun. ;)

(the 22 insert) Sounds like an equally long 22 rifle barrel, not very quiet with cb rounds. physics hold true.

ignore the flash suppressor, it was a joke.

Playing around with sights and need some advice.

If I move the rear to far back it doesn't work for my eyes. Where it is right now in the pic gives me not an in credible sight radius but it may seem like it would do the job. The sights I had laying around off a rifle.

I'm not sure if I should go to some sort of peep type set up which could be close to my eye.

Any opinions?

Thanks!
