Diamond J Knives, What happened to them?

This has been a long saga, BUT it has ended on a very nice note for me. I hope it will for everyone involved.
True to his word, Dan sent me Gertrude and a cute little ringed Kiridashi style knife that arrived a few minutes ago. He sent them wanting no money and only to make things right between us. It was a huge gesture on his part and although I usually do not like to accept free things, I accepted this from him and thank he and his brother for the grand gesture.
Gertrude is as beautiful as the pictures Dan posted of her back in May. I really loved her in the pictures and find her even nicer in person. The edge is mirror polished and razor sharp. The little kiridashi is great also and will make a great handy pocket cutter.
I hope that if others are contacted by Dan that things can be made right for them as they were for me.
This seems like a true effort to start the ball rolling at correcting what went wrong here. I for one am happy that they have started on the road back.
Chime in if they took care of any of you yet. I want the good to be posted as quickly as the bad piled up. Letting everyone know about their attempts to make ammends with us.

Dan did indeed make the sheath I had asked for, to the design specs I asked for also. Gertrude and the sheath are a wonderful pair.
I was really hoping everyone else would be taken care of since they took such care of me.

There hadn't been any word on here, I had been saying hi to dan online now and then but not pressuring him on my refund hoping that less pressure would help him get his work done. I sent an email asking where they were at on deliveries to people since I hadn't seen anything on here, then there's posts, I guess we all wondered at the same time. I honestly had been hoping guys were getting their knives. Out of curiosity, how many are left to be delivered that were promised/paid for? I wonder where in line I'm at.

I would love to believe it, but if these guys don't show some signs of activity beyond the rare email, they will be history here.

I have received a few return emails from them but no promise date on my knife or no refund offer.

Today Dan sent me pics of my heat treated blade which he will be scaling and sheathing over the weekend, there was also someone elses heat treated drop point knife in the pic, so a bit of blue sky.

I heard from Dan last week that he would have some stuff going out this week, looks like it is getting done. I'll keep hoping for good outcomes.

Update. I just got pics of the finished knife 'Miss Moore' from Dan, he will post tomorrow, so there is definitely new work occurring and I am content.

Still out over $300 with no response in recent months. Integrity's in short supply pretty much everywhere so this is nothing new.

It still blows my mind that people send these small time makers large deposits for knives. If the maker is in any kind of decent "business" shape he should be more than capable of covering the materials cost of any knife ordered. And if he is confident in his work and the buyer doesnt pay upon completion he should be able to sell said knife easily here on the exchange. And then people continue to send makers money like this guy after all these posts!?!

You know hindsight is always 20/20, I have been thinking that a lot lately (not in regards to this). but shit does happen. If I never get my money back this will be the 2nd time I've been burned on internet deals, but I'm still optimistic. Here's why: I like to hope that most guys are like me, and worry about their reputation. I have' had deals where I lost money or broke even, because I messed up and wanted to make sure it was good enough for the other person that my rep was intact. I'd like to think that the efforts Dan and his brother are showing indicate that they're the same way. I've known the other type of guy, the ones that will borrow thousands from a buddy then tell him he's an asshole and they don't plan to pay him back. Then they have the balls to sit on the barstool next to you every day like they never did anything wrong. Those guys usually you recognize, and it amazes me that they can look anybody else in the eye. I think that in the end if they (dan and marc) square up with everybody they'll earn forgiveness. they may not get deposits afterwards :) but they'll have shown they were stand up guys.

I did a lot of research on this phenomena and concluded scientifically that it's because I'm a ****** idiot. There's no other explanation.

^^^ I like a man who's both complex and simple. That's a good answer. :D BTDT!

Anybody else get anything? I wish I'd gone to bed ten minutes ago, I'd totally forgotten about this I'd been so busy, then saw the news about Syria, thgouth abotu combat tomahawk and wondered why the winkler was so frickin' expensive, came here and remembered the knife I never got. :(

No refund or correspondence. I wish they'd hurry so I can maybe buy something at the East Coast Custom Knife Show next month. I guess I'll send out another email since they're probably healed by now.
