Did I miss the announcement - BM 761?

My detent is loose as well. Let me say that by no means am I knocking this knife. But it is a first production. If Benchmade mods read this, it may be some things they can take back to the drawing board. Tighter detent and lock-rock issues.
I agree that the pocket clip is an over travel stop. Rather ingenious idea to me. Knock out a pocket clip and over travel stop in the same piece. I really believe that Benchmade had a real winner here they just need to fine tune it a little more. It may have come out to the public a little early. I'm assuming for the holidays. Back to the drawing board guys, and this knife is phenomenal.

Regards,
Steven

Detent is my only issue and not too big of one. Would have drilled the detent hole in blade out a bit ,but got lost in something else today. Been EDCing for over a week with no regrets. Love the knife, love the steel, lockup is solid and I can live with the TDC clip.

Mine is 22/1000,,, detention seems fairly good really? Doesn't the hex nut behind the blade adjust out any lock rock???;)

I don't have any lock rock issues, but I played with that hex shaped stop pin today. The only position it seemed to like is with the two small circles on the pin in the 12:00 position. The rest I assume are for later use when lockbar wear occurs. Im wondering if the circles up are the default position on all knifes?

The one I had (768/1000) came with the two circles rotated 2 positions toward the rear. I tried it at the 12:00 position and there was lots of lock rock. So apparently that octagonal post is offset and set appropriately at Benchmade.

Find ApostleP's review on YouTube. He was super disappointed with the 761. Interesting considering that he's sort of a BM fanboy.

I don't know if ApostleP's a Benchmade fanboy or not. However his three negative issues seem to be isolated to a small amount of this 1st production run. None of his issues are evident in my piece. My detent is as stiff as my Spyderco Militarys, my lockbar is very strong. It hurts my dried out thumb a bit when I deactivate the lock.
His report of a thin lockbar cutout is inaccurate. It only appears thin at the outer edge. Less than half way through its as thick as the rest of the frame.

My piece has a solid lockup. The loosening pivot has faded with the excess oil. No problem for the last two weeks.

Everything about my 761 is perfect. No issues at all, one of the finest knives I own.

I really enjoy the knife. The issues I brought up were in no way meant to degrade it or Benchmade. Just some concerns/comments.

My pivot has stayed fast since Dec 3rd! I believe it was backing out due to the excessive oil that came on my 761. Since the oil has dissipated the threads of my pivot have stay put. I open it all day every day too.

Such a beautiful and great knife.

Mine is finally arriving tomorrow after a two week backorder -and I just left home for two weeks last night! WHY?!? :grumpy:

We'll I just order one and as soon as I ordered it I went on YouTube to check out some reviews . Should have done it the other way . Hopefully I get one with a strong detent . I love the looks of this knife hopefully no number on the blade .

I just got mine and its about perfect, centered, pretty sharp, nice and even bevels, very smooth opening and closing, and an awesome solid lock-up with a sweet sound too!!! :D

I worked out a way to get the knife and received it yesterday. No number, centered, retention is great. Kind of shocking how fast the blade flies out. Took some getting used to but now I'm doing slow, controlled openings/closings.

It would have been sweet to see green or orange anodized spacers for some color -but there's not much to complain about with this one. It is a beauty. I never carry my Seb 25 because the clip retention is weak so the 761 clip is a welcome surprise on a titanium framelock. Going to give it a couple of weeks in the pocket to see how it goes. Very promising.:thumbup:

Good luck putting this one down. Its been in my pocket for a month now. I just love this knife. And the sound it makes when opening is amazing. I had to make a mod so it works better for me. Now its perfect.
