Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

Sorry, but no pics since I forgot the phone at work while taking a stroll with one of my customers. (I am working with spinal cord injured people who use wheelchair). Today we were out in the archipelago of Stockholm, lots of nice nature paths to walk/roll around. When we reached a gate/bar where we needed to pass on the side, the wheelchair flipped over in loose gravel and ended up in the ditch, and the guy (76 years young) fell out in the bushes (roses with thorns). Lucky for us i had my little slipjoint and could clear all the bushes so we could get back in the saddle again without any extra damage. The first thing he said was, - good thing you always carry a knife :)

At his age, when growing up it would have been about as likely a gent would leave the house forgetting to put on his trousers, as he was to leave without his pocket knife/knives in his strong side front pocket, or forgetting his house and car keys, locking himself out.
I wonder if he misses always carrying a pocket knife like when he was a young lad?

Glad he wasn' t injured in the spill.

My mother (1940-1992) always had a penknife in her purse. Her father (my grandfather) told me once, “a gentlemen should always carry a penknife and a lighter, if one shoul meet a woman in need of assistance”. So when I asked her about who she would assist she said, “not the point, the point is that I don’t need any assistance 😉

Picked some early fruits:

Not exactly a garden knife, but it was the knife I had on me when I went to look at the garden. Only really needed it for the eggplant.

***It seems the image links are not working again. If all you see are red ’X’s, imagine my usual Okapi ratchet knife on a pile of cucumbers and eggplants, and a single small tomato, then a picture of the knife perched on a wooden stake which holds up a plastic mesh fence around a small backyard garden. It might help to close your eyes…

Funny, though- when I try to edit my post, the pictures show up in the preview.

I have to pick the tomatoes before they are ripe, otherwise the birds and squirrels eat holes in them.
