Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

Pff Jack... I really need that Castor. Why the torture man? :D Great pics though ;)

I've used the Lierenaar for what it's used best: food prep.

Nothing spectacular, just something I wanted. Home alone, so bacon it is. The rest of the ingredients: tomato from our greenhouse, shallot and parsley from the backyard and an egg.

Galeo - I'm pleased to see you are eating well despite being unsupervised ;)
It looks delicious, and its always nice to see your Lierenaar

No gourmet cooking here but I did use my knife to cut the packing tape and tamper seals off of a number of boxes at work yesterday. I didn't take any pics, so in your mind, picture a large cardboard box with packing tape. Contained within are three smaller cardboard boxes sealed with strapping tape. Within THOSE were even more boxes with tamper-seal tape, and inside those were electronic components in anti-static bags sealed with tape.

Now, picture the sheepfoot blade on this knife being used to neatly and effortlessly slice through all of the various tape seals, and you have the picture that I didn't take:

Nice blade jc! I bet it sliced through all that tape like nothin'.

I'd buy a box load if I knew where they came from! :D

Those are fantastic pics, what a feast! :)

Thanks man! I think I tracked them down and I might get one in the near future. Holiday expenses first though... Who knows what I might come across at the knife museum in Solingen this Sunday :)

Unsupervised... I'm 23 for cryin' out loud:D. I like that Lierenaar too, but I've been getting tired of the dull colour of the handle and the rough corners so I decided to do something about that... You'll see pics within the next few days, probably :)

Galeo, you have great taste in knives and eating:D

I agree:thumbup::cool:

I can picture that JC! :D Great-looking knife :)

Great, I was beginning to think Scruff was making them in his cellar! :D

Mine has just been at work again :)

Those strawberries look good, Jack.
I've been doing something less edible:
Using my new Taylors Eye Witness lambsfoot to debark this incipient rustic quern-pestle, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the straight edge follows outlandish contours. Still tight as a bank vault, too, despite my using a little more torque than I should.

best post yet in this thread. :D

I just cut some rope and sharpened a pencil with my Mountain Man today. I had been having trouble getting a good edge back on it but I think I got it. One of these days I'll take a pic of it and post it in this thread.

well...the spring snapped and flew across the room as I opened the Mountain Man. I guess it is retired. :(

Thanks Jer, they've been cheap and plentiful here this year, I don't think I've ever eaten so many. These came from just up the road from where I live :)

Glad you're liking the Lambsfoot  I need to get another myself as I've given all mine away recently :D

Just read that in the other thread Pete. Hope you can get it fixed

Used my Camillus TL-29 to work on my washing machine again. It's been on its last legs for a while, but I'm moving soon, and that'd be a better time to get a new one. Unfortunately it's pretty shot :(

My Boy's Knife cut up some scraps of wood to pad a G-clamp, and later it helped me make sandwiches in the park when I met my girlfriend for lunch :)

No pics unfortunately as my %&£$#@ computer has just fried its second 8GB memory card this month!

I bought a load of red peppers and vine tomatoes cheap in the market, and decided to turn them into 3 litres of soup for the freezer. There was a little left over for a taste, after some very tasty asaparagus...

...and before some locally grown strawberries. They looked a bit like this...

Castor did the honours :)

Just used my yellow carbon Sodbuster jr. For cutting down weeds in my yard. I started to use my castor but it is so hard to open..... This thread should be ----- have you used your traditional knife for food prep--- this is making me so dang hungry

Really? Mine has been fine. Maybe there's something that you can do about it? :)

Used my Castor to make breakfast today, and to cook lunch. I did take some pics, but am wary about ruining another memory card.
