  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Did your Traditional knife get a workout today? -Part II

Went into the back yard after work without changing out of my office clothes today. My Buck 305 cut some gardener's tape for a tomato vine too heavy with fruit to stay where I had put it. Later it cut some twine to hold down a tarp.

Here is the 305 extended to its full 2 5/8" glory...

Much like Frank, when I got home from work I pulled my peanut out to chop the heads off of some sunflowers so that I could harvest and roast up some seeds. The freshly sharpened peanut made quick work of the 1" plus stalks and the fruits of the labor were equally as satisfying.
sorry for the low light in this pic...

Here is a better pic from not long ago:

I do like those 'I have a knife in my pocket so I don't need to go and get a tool box/gardening tools' moments! :)

Won't be eating until late tonight, so I thought I'd have a cooked lunch. My #66 helped out :)

My Castor helped me make a sausage and mushroom sandwich for lunch :)

Before I went out walking yesterday, I got up early and made soup to take along. Good excuse to dirty up my Boy's Knife ;)

I know, it's not a knife but it is a Waynorth GEC tube popper.
This is a his and hers pic because I forgot to snap one when my stockman was helping me cook earlier. A buddy of mine shot a few Canadian geese yesterday and gave us some breasts which I cooked today. The stockman helped remove the shot from them prior to going into the roasting dish.

Well, it was sort of my knife. I gave it to the fella who saved the day with it.

Spent the weekend camping at church. Some folks use tents. Others build roofless huts and sleep under the stars. We have all our services outside for the weekend. This is a big time of year for us. We give gifts to one another.

This year I gave two fellas Opinel gardener's knives because they help maintain the church landscaping. One fella was absolutely thrilled. He couldn't stop looking at it and showing it to people. The other nodded, said, "cool", and stuck it in his pocket.

That second fella looked me up last night and said, "You know that knife you gave me this morning came in really handy this afternoon. One of the little girls got her hair caught in the zipper of a tent. She got stuck and was panicking. A bunch of people were looking for a knife or scissors to cut her hair and free her. I lent them the knife you gave me and it worked great. " He was thrilled to be the one who had the right tool for the job. (Folks who camp on the church lawn tend not to bring things they would bring if camping in the mountains or desert.)

One of life’s great moments Frank, as thanks to you, someone (re)discovers what many have already forgotten: There’s always a good reason to have a knife in your pocket

Meanwhile, my Charlow helped me make a marmalade sandwich to go with my mid-morning cuppa ;)

My daughter gave me a chilli plant. The chillis are very small, but hot. I thought I'd use some to make a curry, my Castor helped :)

Finally put my new stockman to work today. Cut up some potatoes, made a necklace for my church key (gifted by Jack Black), and cut the foil off of a Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout.
