DINGED.........Second Generation Badger Attack Ergo Combat Grade

Awesome. How is the balance now? It looks good

Thanks.
The balance still feels the same. Not noticeably different. It balances about 1/8" to 1/4" behind the front grip panel hole.

Nice! I think that looks way better honestly!

Thanks!

It totally changed my opinion of the knife. Now it is one of my favorites. It works well in more grips than just hammer or fencing. Just an EXCELLENT knife now, for me.

Fixed mine. It isn't perfect (my work), yet, but close enough to stop and use it. Much more versatile to grip, now. No hot spot in edge out. Still feels good choked back. Better than I expected it to retain that feel. This is MY knife now. I LIKE it.

That looks great RS. I didn't know if I was going to keep mine. It feels great in hand, but kind of bulky for that blade length. With it bobbed though...

For me, with it bobbed... it's all of the good of this blade, and no bad or awkwardness.

Up 'til now, the Ratmandu pattern has been my favorite, especially as the SWATmandu. With this change... I dunno. I think the SWATmandu will remain my favorite, but this thing is a very, VERY close second. Maybe even a tie for first. I could see myself collecting a variety of these just like I have done of the INFI/SWATmandu. Kicking myself now that I let a few slip away over the past week or so.

I'll try to take more pics tomorrow, but I don't have them now. Like I said earlier, my work isn't perfect, but it will do for now.

I started out with a Dremel cutting wheel, followed by a coarse sanding drum, then fine, then a grinding wheel, and then sandpaper on a small wooden block by elbow grease. I kept dunking the butt in cold water as I cut, but it still got hot. I figured it was far enough from the edge to not matter. It has just enough of a lip left to pop the top of a beer bottle.

I plan to strip the sage coating sometime soon. But I think I worked on this about 1.75 hours today, so that was enough for one day. Easy enough I'd do it again to another, but difficult enough it wasn't fun.

If you have a grinder to do the mod, that would be much better, IMO. I went through several cutting wheels doing this, since it wasn't all clamped in and everything. But ya gotta make do with what ya got.

It's not something I'd try to sell as pro. But I'm satisfied with my workmanship for now.

The SHe is in that middle ground where I don't know if it would benefit tremendously from a butt reduction. Not having one myself, I don't know how it feels, how large it actually is. I anticipate that I will not particularly want to do this to the BMe2 when it comes in. It seems like it will be enough of a chopper that I won't be trying/needing to use it with a variety of grips like I already do this one.

I got 2 SHe2s so I could grind one and still have one intact in case I didn't like it. I think just about everybody that's butt ground ergos has liked it, including the BMe.

I'm still debating whether to keep this one as others have said it is very similar to the SOB. The small choil is my biggest hang up and I'm not sure modding a new blade is something I'm willing to try.

Just picked one up off the exchange, like it a lot, blade is similar to the SOB, but a half inch longer and much thicker .218 compared to the .164 on the SOB LE I have-Handle is great, Big ole chunk of Infi in a relatively small package, I am happy I picked one up-Cheers!!!

You guys are killing me. Loved the original and really liked the SOB. I think this one is the perfect mix of the two. Hope I get tracking on mine Tuesday.

This is about how much I'm thinking about taking off. That would leave the whole guard and a 0.75 diameter choil. If the guard spur ends up being annoying, I could always take it off too. But I think this could work pretty nice.

That would make it kind of Ratmanduish. For myself I do not see a real need for a choil on that size of knife.
I just cant wait to get my hands on mine. The biggest thing I didn't like about the original was that the handle was a bit thin compared to its width. I believe this one has made the original BA-Es design about perfect except I would have liked it to be .25 thick.

If it was Choilless I would leave it like that, but with the huge elf choil and talon hole, you can make it useable without even giving up any edge, and maybe not even any guard either.

I like that idea. Might be something I try in the future. I like that it wouldn't give up edge

I'm not a fan of the elf choil either. Give me a small sharpening notch or a usable choil, not some strange hybrid of the two.

Quick and dirty between events. This feels pretty good so I stopped before getting into the talon hole. I'll probably either fill it in with something or keep going. I'm really surprised my finger already fits, and I've only lost about 1mm of edge

More photos of the butt.

Sorry the quality is so bad. I only had a few moments to snap them. If these don't show it well enough, I can try again later.
